FNP- Did I make the wrong decision at this job.
Thanks everyone for your comments on my situation. My collaborator informed me she knows I need help but she will not pay for a NP, LPN or a MA right know but she will hire a medical secretary for me to do the administrative work I do. However, she is not understanding the workload within itself is to much for one NP. The place where I am working they stated they always had 2 NP's this is the first time they have only had one at this facility. I do understand that she is a seasoned physician however how does she possibly see 22 patients in 1 hour??? Well these same patients she states she see, I end up having to treat them through out the day for something she should have caught if she was really see the patients for follow up. I believe I am about burnt out know and I have actively been looking for a new job. I have tried to incorporate things like a communication book however it was shot down by the facility. I had no input on who will work with me throughout the day at all her (my collaborator) and the office manager made the decision on the secretary I get. I am not feeling like my collaborator even is considering how I feel about anything especially since I am in that environment all day by myself 9-11 hours daily. Yes, I was trying to make it to 6 months but I don't think its gonna happen.

FNP- Did I make the wrong decision at this job.
I am a new grad FNP. This is my first NP job. I have caught on pretty quick, however it is becoming unbearable. I currently work as a medical hospitalist in a psychiatric facility. It is a 56 bed facility and there are 3 psychiatric physicians and 2 psychiatric NP and then myself the medical NP. As the medical NP in this 56 bed facility I have to do all the admission within 24 hours (normally 4 to 10 admissions daily). I have to do all the medical discharges that leave the building and also see the medical patients daily. I also constantly get interrupted by the nurses for things dealing with there patients and acute issues. The company I am with we are contractors in this facility. I don't have no MA or any type of assistance. Oh by the way this facility is all PAPER CHARTING. I have to share charts with the psych physicians, make my own copies and make copies of the vital signs and look for my own blood sugar readings. So in a nutshell I do all my own administrative work as well as try to care of the patients. I can't use the secretary really because we are a contractor in this facility for medical only. My collaborative physician comes in the building daily anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour. She sees 25 patients in this timeframe and she goes home and dictate. She will only see the Geriatric patients. I basically see all the patients because she is only in the building for a short period of time. She states it shouldn't take me no longer than 15 min. to do a complete history and physical?????? She want me to see atleast 20 patients a day. I informed her that I need some assistance in the building it is way to much for one NP. I have been working 10 hour days and 9 to 10 hours on Saturdays. To try to get as much done as I can. She is totally not concerned about how many hours I am working. She constantly talk about numbers and money to be able to see a profit. I am feeling burnt out and I don't think she really care. My contract states an average of 40 hours in one week I am working between 52 and 60 hours weekly. I am feeling discouraged because I have learned a lot, however I am getting way to stressed out with no help. NOT sure what to do?????

Can you decline a job if not started but Contract signed?
Hello I wanted to know if anyone knows this. If you have signed a contract however the start date is a month away can it be cancelled? If after the contract is signed and your collaborative physician stated you work all holidays? I know my weekend is a rotation, however didn't expect all holidays.

Failed AANP Has anyone taking Leiks review Live
Your are correct. It was like that in her webinar. However after I took the time and read through the book at a slower pace using Barkley it came together for me much better. I just wasn't feeling like fitzgerald was enough for me. The scores you stated it sounds like your gonna be JUST FINE!! It is great you have a job waiting for you...I am looking now I wish I had one waiting for me. You are gonna feel like a ton of bricks fell of your shoulders once its over.

Failed AANP Has anyone taking Leiks review Live
I understand truly how you feel. I prayed alot and everytime I started to get anxious or nervous I would start praying to erase the negativity. I would say get a good nights sleep and eat a healthy breakfast. I did get a massage the day before and stayed in a hotel the night before (just because I have a family and I wanted nothing but peace and quiet. Me being anxious and nervous this go around was not that bad at all. I went to a Leiks webinar 3 weeks prior that help alot. I answered all of Leiks questions in the back of her book, I ordered 2 exam edge question banks and I used Barkley to supplement and listen to his CD's in my care when I was driving. I understand how you feel though.

Failed AANP Has anyone taking Leiks review Live
Hello...sorry I have taken so long to respond back. I am currently in the live webinar course this weekend as well. I would say it was a very fast class especially today (2nd day). I would like to take my test around the 1st week in October myself. I ordered the Qbank, however I didn't finish. I took my test around 4 months ago I believe and I took a break from studying (a little to long of a break). I would love to quiz each other. What do you think about the review so far?? my email: [email protected]

Failed AANP Has anyone taking Leiks review Live
Hello everyone, I have failed my AANP and due to retake in about a month. I have signed up for the Leiks Webnair and Iam wondering if anyone has taken the class live or via webnair and if so what did they think about it and were they successful from the review. I am so wanting to be successful on this next exam. I have studied the Leiks book and done the questions previously and really like it. Would love to hear people experience with Leiks webnair or live review. I did take Barkley previously.

Failed ANCC and AANP/APEA Questions
Thanks...i have Barkley Cd's i listen to in the car when going and coming to work. I pray about it all the time, however I know when it is his will. I have scripture I reference to that helps me get through without getting to stressed out about it. I pray for understanding to not only get through the certification but also be a awesome NP. I was losing Faith at one time but I had to quickly erase that negative thinking because I know better and having faith is what has gotten me this far!! I thank you for your support I just to gain the strength to go hard once again and pass this certification. My way of thinking and studying needs to be better. QUOTE=CocoaLoverFNP;8578973]Sounds good. The hollier and fitzegarald's audio CD also helped me. I listened to those multiple times. I also read Leik about 3 times. If you can afford those CDs, I recommend them. I know that the AANP questions were difficult. ANCC, from what i heard, was hard because they also covered non-clinical questions. So if you did not study the theories, research, and professional issues, then you will consider it hard. ANCC's clinical questions though were straight forward. But even though you got all the clinical questions right in ANCC's exam, you would still fail it. Anyway, pray hard! Also study well. You already achieved so much, you can't just give up now.

Failed ANCC and AANP/APEA Questions
I so appreciate your response and your absolutely correct. I am almost wonder if I truly understand it have I just memorized the Leiks questions. APEA has a new QBank and I thought about using that as well. Today I started studying again and I went through the topics in Barkley and then the exam tips in Leiks (still need a few more topics to review in Leiks). I am then going to start answering questions. My goal is to do 400 a week and review. My last day to take the AANP is August 13th. The ANCC was way harder then the AANP. My last test on the AANP was 493 (almost made it).

Failed ANCC and AANP/APEA Questions
Thank you so much!! I am currently using leiks and BARKLEYS which I used before and loved it. I feel I need to do more questions. I know the leiks questions by heart now. I do understand those. I wanted to purchase the new APEA QBank because I need more questions to do and the questions samples seem pretty good. They focus on assessment and management. I am having a hard time getting back to the study grind because Iam just tired of studying so hard and still failing. Today, I am going to make myself get started. I am now nervous to fail the AANP because you only can take 2 times a year. QUOTE=CocoaLoverFNP;8578250]I am sorry you feel this way! I have read your posts before about failing and I do not doubt that you studied so much like everyone else. I used the APEA's Qbank, Leik's app for questions, and AANP's FNP and AGNP sample questions and found that answering these questions more than 3 times helped reinforce my learning. It also helped me list those topics that needed more review. I didn't just answer the questions though. I read Leik, listened to hollier & fitzgerald multiple times, i went to a live review, then re-read Leik again. I also watched APEA's videos on newborn assessment. It may seem tedious but I think this was the only way I could pass the exam. I also prayed a lot! I know it is exhausting to have to take these exams again. Studying incessantly made me grumpy, stressed, and depressed during the process. Maybe you should take a week off from studying? However, do not give up!!! What were your strengths and weaknesses? Which topics did you score low? Have you thought about changing your studying habits/strategies? You should have a good idea by now on what was lacking from your study materials. What study materials are you using? How did you study them? Anyway, I am here to help. I am sure others are willing to help you too. Good luck!

Failed ANCC and AANP/APEA Questions
I have failed both of these certification and I am so tired!!! I don't even have the energy or the desire to study right now. I know it is wrong to feel this way but I think I am tired of disappointing myself. Iam also tired of people at my job asking me daily. I really don't feel I did enough study questions. I am thinking about trying APEA questions. They just started a new question bank on their website. ( I did the old one and it was not very good). I almost feel like I will never past!!!!!!
