FNP Duke, BSN- MSN/DNP Fall 2019
I think if you get an interview, and interview well your chances of getting into Duke's program are very good. I graduated in December. I interviewed via skype because I am in the western region and could not get off work. Some people fly out for their interview but I think if you interview well and really give it your best it won't matter if you are there in person or not. I know of one person who interviewed and got wait listed. But this person had a bit of a lower undergrad GPA. They were offered a spot about 2 or 3 months before the semester started. Duke's program is excellent, I can not say enough great things about it. I passed boards no problem and already have a job. I hope this info helps you out. Good luck to you, I hope everything work out for you on your NP journey.

Duke NP graduates.... worth it?
I have had great feedback from MDs who know I am at Duke University. They are very impressed with the quality of a Duke education. They know its online and that does not seem to matter. Between going out for on campus intensives as well as intensives for my specialty, I feel like I am getting a great education. I hope this helps.

FNP Duke, BSN- MSN/DNP Fall 2019
Congrats on your interview! I am currently in Dukes NP oncology program. First, relax! The interview is just an opportunity for you to highlight your work in oncology as well as what you are hoping to do with your NP career. The best advice I can give you is be yourself, and don't be afraid to talk about your experiences with your oncology patients. I was very nervous for my interview, but felt at ease within a few minutes. The very best of luck to you! You will do GREAT!

Duke NP graduates.... worth it?
I am currently in the FNP program with a specialty and will graduate this December. I love Duke's program. I have had exceptional faculty and am very impressed with the education I am receiving. I am attending part-time and work part-time and find this very doable. I have made great friends who are in my cohort and we all support each other. I have never experienced any belittling or bullying from faculty or fellow students, the faculty and your advisor want you to succeed. As part of the curriculum, you will have on campus intensives. While some may view this as a burden, I viewed it as an opportunity to get hands on experience with patients (individuals hired to portray patients), as well as simulations which improved my critical thinking. The price tag is high, however, I was able to receive a small scholarship through Duke, as well as tuition reimbursement from my hospital. This helped to offset the cost. After you are accepted, Duke tries to match you with scholarships for which you qualify, so keep that in mind. Does your current employer offer any tuition reimbursement? I picked Duke because of their top ranking, and their history of academic rigor. I viewed the tuition cost as an investment in me. I am in the west and I have to say I have had great feedback from physicians, PA’s and Nurse Practitioners about choosing Duke. Ultimately you will have to decide if Duke is a good fit for you, do your research and make sure it is what you want. Good luck to you as you chose your NP program!

Duke AGNP Spring 2017
Hi everyone: I got back from Durham today thank goodness no flights cancelled. I added all the requests I got to the FB group Duke Nurse Practitioner Students Spring 2017 Cohort. I'm excited we will have a space to communicate now! I still can't see anything on my Sakai, so I reached out to the professor and he said his class would start on Monday. I have not heard from the other professor. DUSON was open today at noon so I called and was told that they will be mailing out ID cards and all information to us by next week. Has anyone set up their VPN yet I asked about that today and that is what allows us to remotely connect to Duke on a secure platform. I don't know about anyone else I'm still feeling a little lost still. Great to have others to compare notes with!

Duke AGNP Spring 2017
Hi Kanhosa and BonnieP---Tonight is my last night here in Durham. I sent an email to the program director and mentioned I was here and a faculty member answered my email she said Duke Nursing was closed today and will be tomorrow due to ice. I walked around campus today, saw the outside of the Nursing school, went to the bookstore, and looked at the hospital. There was some ice but nothing i'm not used to in Utah. The campus is amazing and beautiful. One good thing is that I kind of mapped out everything for when we come again in the fall. I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard near Duke it is literally blocks away, super friendly staff. I think I will stay here all the time because its so convenient. I can start a facebook page right now, I have time since I'm just in the hotel waiting to fly out tomorrow. I'll post when its done, this way we can keep in touch. The faculty member said if the syllabus aren't posted on Sakai by tomorrow to reach out to the professors. Unlike you Kanhosa my professors haven't posted anything yet. I'm nervous school starts Wednesday and I'm not sure whats going on...I think there are no books do either of you know?

Hi Bonnie: I'm so glad that you were able to cancel in time what a relief. I have a quick question for you. When I go on Sakai, I can't see any links to the classes I'm taking this term. Are you able to see your classes. I'm just getting nervous now that classes start Wednesday. I'm just not sure if I'm missing something or if the professors haven't posted our class links yet. Thanks so much

Duke AGNP Spring 2017
Hi Bonnie P: Well I ended up finally getting here to Durham yesterday afternoon...only to check my Duke email today and see orientation on Monday is canceled. I am soo disappointed I am literally stuck in a hotel down the street from Duke until Tuesday. Did you get to stop your travel plans in time? I am so worried about starting this week. I still have sooo many questions. I hope you ended up canceling your plans in time. Hopefully we can meet soon, it would be nice to compare notes etc throughout the program. All the best, Rebecca

Congratulations! If you look at the Matriculation Plan its generic, there are no dates set for next fall yet. I'm sure as the time gets closer they will let us know. You also might want to call the nursing department maybe the can give you more info. The orientation is Monday January 9. I am an online student but I wanted to go out to Duke so I will be flying out a few days before to look around. Good luck on your decision, I hope you decide to come to Duke. I am starting the FNP program with an Oncology specialty.

Welcome Kanhosa I'm so glad you in our cohort! What specialty are you doing? I'm FNP oncology specialty. I'm so excited as well to start. Does anyone know when we will find out about DUSON Merit scholarships, I got my financial aid package but no word on the Merit scholarship...anyone hear anything?
