Hi there.. I failed the first time I took NCLEX 265Q self study using saunders book just this year so I took KAPLAN review online. I am committing for the schedule they provided to follow after the end of the class. I am now starting doing their Q banks my scores are low I did 17% of the questions and only did 53% correct answers!!! Any advice and words of encouragement?? I'm planning to take my exam next month last week of Dec.
guys i need your advice =( im done 67% of my qbank and only scored 56% im consistent of my low scores.. yesterday i did not answer my qbanks no review at all because im so tired from work.. im still tired today but i need to do Q and A cuz i already missed it yesterday.. i tried 50q's on timed mode and only got 47%!!!! so my total correct answer now is just 56%.. what im going to do if i finished my qbanks and still get low scores..???? i haven't done with my QT 6 and 7 planning to answer them days before exam.. im worried
Oh my gosh I'm so happy I found this thread! I too have been getting low scores and have been doubting myself. I took nclex back in August and failed with 265 ?'s so I took a break and started Kaplan and I really like the different methods and I am able to see all the stupid mistakes I made but for some reason I can't seem to get out of the 50's and my first Qbank score was only 47% I had scheduled to take boards this month but I will most likely push it back until I can feel comfortable with all of this. My diagnostic was 56, Qtrainers 1, 2, and 3 were 52/57/54. I haven't had time to do the others yet but I'm not looking forward to it! I find the videos hard to watch, in exception for the guided reviews, and pharm is my weakness by far!!!! I just can't seem to remember all the different classes, s/s of effects, and what to monitor...this sucks
My Q-Bank Update for today: I have done 93% of my Q-Bank so far, and currently, I have 62% an overall average.
@ melai12: Don't be so discourage. You'll be fine. Just practice at least 50 questions a day and keep on reading all the rationales and look up the topics you don't understand. I learn contents by looking up the topics that I don't know. If you have done 100% of the Q-Bank, you can select "INCORRECT" questions when you create a test and repeat them. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!! I had one 50% on one of my Q-Bank test as well...sometimes, you get tired or not in the mood could affect the score too. Just understand why you got the questions wrong is the most important. I think 56% is a good score. Keep up the good work everyone!
@lucky12784 same boat as you.. i took my first nclex exam august and stoped at 265. I heared alot of good stuff about kaplan thats why i enrolled. hope this time we can make it..
@miley thanks!!! ya after i finish 100% i will repeat my incorect answers... idk if i will purchase a lipincott book the q and a after this..

@melai12, thank you so much! I'm waiting until Monday when I can see my name on the CA BON before I start celebrating As for advice two days before the test? I would suggest going over questions two days before and then relax on the day before your test. I personally spent 8 hours in the library the day before I took the boards, only because I was very anxious and I couldn't stay away from studying. You said that you already used 75% of your QBank questions? Have you already reviewed all of the QBank tests you took?
@nurse1123, does your state allow you to reschedule your test? Because if so, I would suggest you wait to take the boards until you score at least in the high 50s (based on the advice of my Kaplan teacher). You are so close! I think that if you just keep practicing questions, you'll have no problem bringing your test scores up (: And a little about QT 1 & 2, the questions are at a basic, understanding level. Once you reach QT3, that's when you'll begin to receive more deeper analysis questions similar to the ones on the NCLEX. Then QT4 has even more critical thinking questions comparable to the NCLEX. It's not until you get to QT6-7 that you'll get all critical thinking questions (if I'm not mistaken).
@Miley22, in my opinion, I felt that the KAPLAN questions were harder than the NCLEX questions. I truly believe that I couldn't have passed the NCLEX without help from Kaplan.
@littleone17, thank you! Good luck on your boards. Do you feel ready?!
@melai: hehe, so true..december is such a busy month. I wanted to schedule my nclex to be on the last week of dec but that would mean I have to miss out on all the family gatherings. lol it's the Christmas season and maybe Jesus wants us to not get too caught up on the nclex and just enjoy the holidays, and to just trust in Him :) let's relax if we can. hehe we can do this.
i finished reading the whole Saunders book. Tomorrow morning I plan on making notes for meds.. I hate pharm how have you been doing in your review as well?
@ejay: ur welcome.. well as of now I can't say that I'm 100% prepared..
hehe I just finished 30% of questions in qbank, overall performance score is 52%. I'm aiming for a 75% once I finished all q's in qbank.
goodluck to me, melai and others taking nclex:))

@melai: I plan on taking nclex sometime on the first week of January..wish me luck guys hehe
@miley: you're doing good at 62%..but if you feel you should get more reading on your meds, go ahead and resched..there's no harm in that :) there's nothing worse than going into the nclex anxious cus you felt you didn't complete all topics for nclex.. my prayers are with you, you can do it:)
