Congrats!!!! I love hearing good news. :yeah:

When do you plan to take your boards? Will the give you a certain amount of months?

My advice:

*Be yourself!

*Take aa ACLS course of PALS depending if your working with adults or ped's

*Get some Dansko health professional shoes-- they are good for the back ( I have a pair myself)

*Use Kaplan to prep for the NCLEX

*Make sure to celebrate Christmas and especially New Year's ( you deserve it)

*Invest in a good stethoscope. Get some good pins, highlighters, and a pin light

*Find out how long your orientation session.

I hope this helps you:D

I've been a tech in the ER for almost a Year now so I'm not new to the scene but I know I've got a lot to learn. I most definitely need a new stethoscope. I have a littmann but I'm having trouble hearing lung sounds now and I need one that really magnifies. I was looking at a littmann cardiology and this other littmann. My internship is 6 months and is a certificate granting one so I will get acls and pals etc...I'm really excited. Where I work now is a level III so all of our trauma activations we ship out now I'll be where we get everything...so I'm excited to be apart of the emergency team. What is something that you all wish you knew before going in...can you share your experiences...

Very Exciting!!! Congratulations!!! My guess is they will probably be paying for your ACLS/PALS but I'd start reviewing a bit now so it's not so overwhelming. Learning your rhythms really well would be good. A lot of people don't realize how not textbook many rhythms look, so learning the fundamentals and descriptions of rhythms are more important.

I think with a 6 month training program you will be fine! Good luck!!!
