So I will officially be an emergency nurse. This is my ultimate dream. I graduate Dec 10 and my internship is at a level 1 trauma facility. It starts Jan 16th!! I'm so blessed and I'm super excited. So pointers, advice, dos and donts will all be appreciated!!

The Littman 3200 is an awesome piece of equipment, jmo. Not in ER anymore and missing it more than you will ever know.

You will get a little bit of everything. Be assertive, be a team player. Don't let the patients manipulate care. Learn all you can and be open to opportunities.

The ER is the most exciting place to work and you are surrounded by amazing no nonsense people that call a spade a spade and make no apologies for who they are.

I hope you enjoy your ER experience as much as I did mine. Had I known I needed more time in the ER before we relocated I would never have moved...ever.:twocents:

Congratulations! So great to hear an "I got hired story!" :)

Congrats!!! I've been in the ER since 1983 and it's amazing the changes that have taken place since then. You will love it even if it is a bit scary the first time you are out on your own. Just remember you are never really alone; there are always others ready to help out or answer questions. Everyone was new once so don't be afraid to ask for help or ask questions. Have fun learning and best of luck!
