I just failed my first Nclex-RN and off course I'm dissapointed since I tought I was well prepared for it. As soon as I walked inside of that exam room I realized that my anxiety level was going to interfere with my concentration abilities. For those who just passed, Congratulations! maybe you can share some ideas on how did you preper yourself for the exam, and what techniques did you use to keep your level of anxiety to a minimum? I appreciate your input, thanks.

Hang in there Ergito2. We'll laugh at all of this nonesense one day.

Hi I Just Passed My Nclex On 8-10-07. I Had 75 Questions And It Was Mostly Prioritization Questions And Delegations Issues. No Math, 4 Choose All That Apply. Lots And Lots Of Pharmacology. Personally I Thought Nclex Was Crazy !! There Were Always Two Answers Which Seem So Right And It Was Really Difficult To Prioritize. So I Suggest To Use The Prioritization And Delegation Book By Mosby. I Also Used Saunders Q&a Book. Before Giving Nclex I Did 8000 Questions And Not Even One Of The Questons Were Same On Boards So Go Figure!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My God!!!! Not one? I heard that supposedly doing 3000 questions was a good thing, so I'm amazed that there can be so many different kinds of questions. Well, you did good. Congrats!

I know something that works like MAGIC. But you have to know how to do yoga meditation.

Go into a meditative alpha state. Picture yourself walking into the test center, checking in, sitting down at the machine, and answering questions calmly and confidently. Do that every day for maybe 15 minutes. NO anxiety!

I think Mosby (for strategies) and Saunders CD (for questions practice) are the BEST two resouces. Sounds like you and I had the same exam.

On the many pharmo questions, I often didn't know what it WAS. I went with what it WASN'T, a lot of the time.

CORRECTION: I mean, Kaplan for strategy.

At least, once we get through it, all we have to do is the 30 units, every couple of years. :-)

i just found out today that I failed...exactly 3 weeks after...on halloween tsk tsk tsk...this is definitely not a treat...please advise the length of time that most of you spent to study...i still don't work but I have a lot of distractions at home(stay-at-home mom)...with the holidays coming, is it too early if I take it on January? I know that I should be the one to tell when I'm ready but I also need some of your inputs...all of your posts are truly very helpful and encouraging though as of this very moment im feeling very disappointed of myself...

Chellie: Give yourself a break! Few could study for the nclex with little ones afoot. I'd take a guess and say find a refuge where you won't hear Mooooooommmmm...would be helpful. Be impressed that you took it in the first place!

I failed the first time and retook it last week and passed. I followed Suzanne's plan and it worked. I would suggest you try her plan and like everyone said, I prayed alot. God answers prayer. I know what your are going through, but hang in there, God has a plan for your life and he would not have brought you this far if it was not in his will for you to become a nurse.

I passed the first time 75 Questions 1 hour, I expected to be there for 5 hours and more than 75 questions, atleast 125.

I used the Priority and Delegation book 3 days before the test!

This after using Kaplan, Hesi, Davis NCLEX review.

I was well prepared, but more than thankful for the P and D book, because after #30, my questions were based on P & D.

So my advice to you is to use your study material(Kaplan etc)

but a few days or a week before don't forget about the P & D!!!!!! and go over test taking strategies.

the test expects you to get 50% right 50% wrong.

Don't beat yourself up, BREATHE, don't rush, Pray, Pray, Pray,

Breathe- your brain needs the oxyen! basic math, basic meds - yes you will see meds you never heard of, don't get caught up with that.

Learning how to take a test is Key- not really about learning or memorizing everything-it's how to pick out the right answer- going with your gut.

God Bless you.
