Would you use a cell phone at work? Do you need a cell phone at work?
Yes, I keep my phone with me at all times,on viberator but, I never answer it when I am with a patient. think it is rude to have a personal conversation... however MD's answer their phones all the time and they never get any complaints.

Need advice from experienced LTC nurses.
I understand all too well... They want you to leave even thought there there is RN assigned to the unit you are on right? no one to relieve you. It comes down to ratio and money. I would have stayed too, if the ratio was reasonable. I worked in 2 nursing homes and from my experience they are all the same... please someone one prove me wrong. I would give it another chance if the working conditions were right.

New Grad RN Pay - Princeton Area
Well, for almost 2 years now, I still can't get a job in a hospital! I should have considred that OR position iin 07 , but, I don't think I will like it, standing there all day, as a scrub nurse, I wouldn't mind circulating... Today there is a open house in Princeton House, I'll try my luck there...I am just going to get what I can get at this point. Any suggestions...

Worried about passing NCLEX after Kaplan due to low scores
My suggestion is to continue reviewing with Kaplan, the last thing you need is to add more stress by adding more study materials. If you are going to purchase something else, HESI with the CD it's $65. Take the tests w/CD along with your Med/Surg book. Take the tests over and over again. Take Kaplan over and over again. I scored with Kaplan in 2007 with an average of a 63%. I passed NCLEX with 75 Questions; your not far off. Breathe, Pray, Study, Test...

Feeling really down.
Are you in contact with any former classmates? perhaps you can network with them or maybe even start taking classes again... have your loan payments deferred during this time due to lack of FT work and/or return to school. Also, maybe you need a better resume?

failureeee :(
You need to evaluate the reasons why you failed; were you prepared? were you stressed? overwhelmed? then take a look at what you can do to improve the circumstances, maybe a 2 year college is better for you right now- take all your pre-req's first so then you can just take NURSING courses at a 2 yr. school. OR maybe you should hang in there and pick yourself up and come up with a plan to succeed! You made it this far...

Where are all the jobs???
Ok, here's the deal; your options As a new grad-you're most likely to get a night job in a hospital. Nursing home, Correctional, Psych are more flexible because, most are desperate and you can work all shifts. You can also try agencies, they hire NG, pay is higher but, there is a chance of getting cancelled. I use to work for Harborside Healthcare in Bridgewater, NJ and now I'm with CureStaffing Agency.

Ancora Psychiatric Hospital - any recent news?
I worked for TPH - it was HORRIBLE and so unprofessional, well not everyone was unprofessional-but, it was and is a DUMP. NOT FOR ME! I currently work in Occupational Health a per-diem position- I like it, I have alot of down time; which allows me to work towards my BSN. I plan to continue to work per diem until I get a FT day position in the hospital one day.
