Job Hopping

So I'm about to finish orientation on an Oncology floor and I got an email yesterday about a job out in Colorado, asking if I was interested in an interview. (I had inquired about 2 years ago out of curiosity because it's so beautiful out there). I'm not sure what to do because I'm not 100% sure that there's anything keeping me here in New York anymore. I really need a sign. Thoughts?

What about your wife? You were missing her last month?

To Libby, of course I love n miss her. She is MY whole world. I'm just not so sure that I am hers anymore so...

You're talking about making an emotional decision during personal instability 3 months into your career. That's a lot more than job hopping.

Think about where you want your career to be in 3/5/10 years from now regardless of what your personal life looks like, will this get you there?

Colorado is full. Stay out.

To PinayUSA, thanks for the advice, but nah...she was the one. I've decided to just take a trip away from things and go visit my granddaughter...

I bet you do a LOT of missing.

Wow.....

Liked that, did ya? Not to worry, PinayUSA's ignorant comments are like buses and another one should come along shortly.

The sign is...you are almost done with orientation and going to leave for another job that you just got an email about? Don't do it. Colorado may not care about this quick hop, but you are surely burning your current employer and that will be difficult to explain down the line. I agree with another poster that stated to imagine what such a move could do to your career goals 5 or 10 years from now. Finish what you have started in Oncology and after a decent amount of time you can revisit Colorado.

If you just finished orientation stay where you are at. You will burn far more bridges than it's worth. Many times emails are just sent to everyone with an RN license. Especially if you have a lot going on in your personal life you likely need more stability than extra changes. Give your job a year or two and if you hate it, then it's time for a change. Good luck to you.

After a lengthy discussion with one of the most influential men in my life (my dad), whom I trust completely, I'm staying. Not for my job so much, but for my wife. He grabbed me by the shoulders and looked me straight in my eyes and said son, "This is truly an amazing woman and you love her. FIGHT for her. Don't you dare give up on her!" I'll fight for all I'm worth until there's no more fight left in me. I don't care who wants to poke fun of me on here, but I love her UNCONDITIONALLY and will NOT bail without a fight. End of that discussion. I do appreciate the encouraging feedback.
