did your job give you a holiday gift??

we recieved $50.00 gift cards for walmart.. which surprised me because we got nothing last year...lol

We got nothing. Same as every other year. One of the surgeons asked one of the nurses on my floor if she was expecting a nice bonus this year and she just about died laughing. He felt bad and bought lunch for the nurses on our floor.

Actually, I've never had a job where management gave anything to the employees. When I was in nursing school, I worked in a large pediatrician's office. 8 docs, 2 CRNP's. The office manager collected $10 from each of the employees to buy Christmas gifts for the docs. The 8 doctors repaid us by all pitching in to buy the office staff a poinsettia plant. Not 1 for each of us - 1 for the office. Our poor office manager was so humiliated by their gift (or lack thereof) that she never asked us to pitch in again for Christmas gifts.

OMG I cannot believe how fricking rude!!! All those doc making the big bucks could not pitch in to buy you guys nice gifts, amazing really!!

we got a $25 walmart gift card for thanksgiving, and $100 direct deposited into our accounts for christmas. :yeah:

lucky you!!:yeah:

You know guys I'm reading this and I really feel sorry for you,all the work you do and the managment cannot come up with a decent jobs,in their minds they probably thinking something like that" be grateful you have a job you little sucker":angryfire

nothing.

We're making our own christmas with potlucks and santa gifts. Our manager made fudge and brought in a bagful for everyone, and she's coming in to participate in the Christmas Eve potluck. That's better than any check TPTB could hand down.

Question:

Is that going to be considered a taxable gift to you? Because I can tell you now that the IRS is gonna look into that.....

i.e. the reason why those kinds of things were stopped at my hospital system....

I got "cost contained" last night...5 to 6 patient load for every good nurse or someone goes home (even if the ER is full..SLAM) tonight with 6 months experience I am CHARGE NURSE and the only RN with 2 LPNs (one LPN is still in diapers!! finishing up orientation)..PRAY FOR MEEEEEE....please pray all is "silent night"...this 8 hour shift (holiday shift)..then at 11 ...4 RN's come in for the night.....tell me are they trying to run me off? or seeing if I can handle it? or perhaps someone goofed on the scheduling?? I'm pulling up my pullups...but sweating..thinking about it.

Nothing, as far as I know. Merry Christmas....bleah.

We got an email thanking us for all our hard work. I am glad to be employed, though...

We had a holiday party but since we are a LTC facility the evening shift did not get to attend. So those that were working got a $10 certficatate good for almost anywhere in town.

We also got a little bad of goodies... candy. notepad... idk what else I have not looked yet.
