January 6 Select Committee

Published

Things seem to be unfolding rather quickly. Former White House aides and advisors are scrambling to cover themselves as they receive subpoenas to appear and produce documents.

It’s rare when lawyers — as opposed to their clients — take the Fifth Amendment. But Jeffrey Clark, the former Justice Department lawyer who reportedly tried to help Donald Trump overturn the 2020 presidential election, is now claiming the privilege against self-incrimination to avoid testifying before the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. He has just been joined in that posture by one of Trump’s main outside legal advisers, John Eastman.

The lawsuit comes after the committee signaled it would pursue a criminal contempt referral against Meadows because of his refusal to sit for a deposition in the investigation into the Capitol riot. Meadows alleges that the subpoenas are "overly broad and unduly burdensome," while claiming that the committee "lacks lawful authority to seek and to obtain" the information requested.

And apparently Mark Meadows had a power point outlining how to overturn election results.

The 38-page presentation, entitled "Election Fraud, Foreign Interference & Options for 6 Jan," is dated one day before the Capitol riot. It's believed to have been submitted by Meadows after he was subpoenaed by the panel in connection with the insurrection.

Wow glad to know I’m media.  Good thing I’m not taking a medrol dose pack or some decadron might start raging.

You're not media.  You lob inflammatory comments into threads hoping to provoke responses.  You don't discuss topics, you regurgitate hyperpartisan nonsense.

Nah.  Do your own homework.

Your claims about Clinton DO qualify as hearsay, how ironic.

You need to go back and read the statement about Clinton wasn’t criticizing her.  Not surprised you didn’t get it.

No thanks.  It was an off topic attempt to troll the thread that also happened to represent hearsay.

What I do get is that you don't really want to address the dangerous corruption and character flaws demonstrated by Trump leading up to the attack on the capitol.

Wasn’t a very good attack when they were unarmed most just walking around.  More like a super bowl celebration that got out of hand.  The only person killed was an unarmed protester.

No, I never said she testified directly to what happened.  Remember, the hearsay discussion?

She testified to what someone, Tony Ornato, told her.  Apparently, Ornato is telling others he never told her that, and the Secret Service is saying the incident didn't happen.

And, others who are familiar with the presidential limo are saying it woukd be almost impossible for Trump to get to the steering wheels.

If anyone is misrepresenting her testimony,  it's the liberal press.

It would seem most likely that both Ornato and Hutchinson are telling the truth.

Keep in mind that while as a Secret Service Agent, Tony Ornato was such a Trump fanboy that Trump made him a political advisor, his deputy chief of staff.  It during that time that Ornato was reportedly in charge of the Lafayette Park photo-op, where the it was never really clear why the Secret Service advanced on the crowd before the Park Police had issued an order to disperse.

I don't think it would be particularly surprising if Ornato had told others stories of Trump's desire to go to the Capitol, quite possibly embellished with examples of how passionate Trump was about wanting to lead his troops into battle, so to speak, and would have seen these fictional additions as being complimentary to Trump.

So no, I don't doubt that both Hutchinson and Ornato are quite possibly telling the truth; Hutchinson was told this story by Ornato, and that the story wasn't actually true.

I think Paul Pelosi drank it all.  But can you blame him knowing who he’s married to?

Fanboy.   Seems I heard that being parroted in left wing media.  Can any of you have an original thought?

Really? You seem quite cavalier about that attack on democracy.  And saying mostly just walking is a bold faced lie.  You do remind me of abhwtl, so I guess you’ll stir the pot for a while longer and then just fade away

Anyway, how about this summation? Does it refresh your memory?

“As a pro-Trump protest turned into a violent attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6 last year, four people in the crowd died.

Ashli Babbitt, an Air Force veteran, was fatally shot by a Capitol Police officer as rioters tried to breach the House chamber.

Kevin D. Greeson died of a heart attack, collapsing on the sidewalk west of the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Rosanne Boyland appeared to have been crushed in a stampede of fellow rioters as they surged against the police.

Benjamin Philips, the founder of a pro-Trump website called Trumparoo, died of a stroke.

Mr. Greeson and Mr. Philips died of natural causes, the Washington medical examiner said in April. He added that Ms. Boyland’s death was caused by an accidental overdose.

In the days and weeks after the riot, five police officers who had served at the Capitol on Jan. 6 died.

Officer Brian D. Sicknick of the Capitol Police, who was attacked by the mob, died on Jan. 7.

Officer Jeffrey Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department killed himself after the attack.

Officer Howard S. Liebengood of the Capitol Police also died by suicide four days afterward.

The Capitol Police had previously said that Officer Sicknick died from injuries sustained “while physically engaging with protesters.” The Washington medical examiner later ruledthat he had died of natural causes: multiple strokes that occurred hours after Officer Sicknick’s confrontation with the mob. The medical examiner added, however, that “all that transpired played a role in his condition.”

A bipartisan Senate report, released in June, found that the seven deaths were connected to the Capitol attack. But the report was issued a month before two Metropolitan Police officers — Gunther Hashida and Kyle DeFreytag — died by suicide in July.”

Gonna call you on this one. Can you show anything, print/video/audio, where tony ornato is referred to as a fanboy?

None of those except Ashley Babbitt was killed that day.   No one knows why a few officers took their lives later after that day.  The one cop that died from a stroke we were told by the left wing media that he was attacked by a fire extinguisher and he had considerable amount of health problems.
