Is it too hard to take Microbiology, AP II, and Chemistry together?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Next semester is my last semester before I apply for nursing school and I have all three of these sciences to finish. I was a Social Work major before so I am behind on sciences. I think I can do it, but was wondering if anyone else has and how hard it was?

Sounds way too hard. Try doing one at a time. Those are tough classes in and of themselves!

I guess it would depend on how strong you are in math and science. Chemistry has a lot of math and all three have a lot of memorization required. I loved all three courses and did have all three the same semester but it was TOUGH!

I was also 33 y/o; married with 2 children; and going back to school after 15 years!

If it were me, I would take each of them separately, to insure maximum chances of getting an A in each. But that is me.

I took all my nursing pre-reqs in One Year. I am a second degree student, first being Computer Science. You will be alright if you dedicate to your courses. Think about it, once in the nursing program, it will be hectic, you might as well put yourself to the challenge.

I took A&P II and Microbiology while working full time. If you aren't working I could see taking that along with chemistry with no problem.

I suggest taking them one at a time. You don't want to do yourself a disadvantage and load up on your sciences only to get a C or repeat a course. Listen to Caliotter3.

I wouldn't do it, but thats just me. I tell everyone to take one and only one class each semester that has a lab.

I think this is something you have to consider for yourself. I personally was not able to focus on more than one science at a time, but I also had classmates who had no problem taking 2 or 3 sciences at a time. It’s not impossible just really hard, and taking them with nursing classes only makes it tougher. You can always check with you community colleges and see if they offer a class between the fall and spring semester. I hope it works out, good luck.

:uhoh3: I would not do all three classes together. You can derail your whole career by doing badly in any one of these courses. You AP II should not be done with Chemistry unless you have already taken Chemistry before and did well.

Good luck!

For the summer, I took anatomy one and two; they both lasted 6 weeks, and I took chemistry wich was for the whole summer (13 weeks) and passed with "A"'s I also took other classes such as sociology, human growth and development and the labs my science classes. Overall, I ended up with a GPA of 3.60 it all depends on how much time you are willing to put in. Oh! Did i mention that I also worked full time while doing this.

Since you say that you are behind in sciences then no. One at a time. 3 A's will look good on your app. Three C's will look bad and no one will care that you took them all together. :)
