Doesn't it feel like this might be a very rocky time for humanity? Our healthcare system already felt like it was stressed to the max, and then this virus came along to bring it to its knees.
And now the general economy is becoming unraveled. The intricate web of the global economy seems to be quickly falling to pieces.
I hope a societal breakdown isn't on the horizon.
People have embarrassingly friggin short-term memories. Other than slave masters....Who else helped usher the US into this status quo? Ronald Reagan. Recall from history books how that *** popularized what's good for the goose (aka corporations) is good for the rest of us (specifically lower/middle class). So massive concentration of wealth grew, and everyone else was expected subsist on their crumbs or "borrow"...ensuring that large pockets would remain indebted to them somehow. But that's what's good for the goose. It's not a new concept. Why is anyone surprised about the closing of a hospital?
American Capitalism is not that complicated, and is deeply rooted in long histories of slavery. Slavery was not a regional institution of cruelty existing in only small remote parts of the world.... it was and still is a driver of broader economic prosperity for a small percentage of society. I would die happy if this pandemic financially decimated the 1% like it has begun to for the rest of the world. I think that's why some people are perhaps so shocked... because they had a false sense of security. I want to be hopeful, but history....
Slash budgets to public health/pandemic planning then shrug your shoulders when the next wave hits... Now Trump is pitching a Covid19 cure that involves a disinfectant 'injection'. I mean... what the point of medical training than? Why not just gas us all now. Sometimes I wish I could buy property somewhere remote away from all this so I could quietly and peacefully live out what's left of my life. I swear, I'm OK. LOL. Just feeling tired.

Some of my colleagues said this too, half-jokingly. I'm not a religious person, but who knows..... maybe the imbalance of the planet/universe is like "enough with these parasites (aka humans)" So, is resetting itself to get rid of us like a deadbeat boyfriend. Asteroid collision? Ice age? Nah virus. More than anything, collective stupidity caused this pandemic.

The government is handing out money it doesn't have, since it's totally in debt. The hospitals in my region are really hurting since volumes are down because of this. I'm wondering if the whole system is really at risk.
It was really globalism that got this started in the first place. We've all gotten used to traveling all over the world. That's really what started previous pandemics such as the Black Plague, the Spanish flu Etc.
The Earth is starting to crack under the strain of human population. People have gotten so good at exploiting the environment, creating luxuries, our standard of living is unprecedented. I don't see how this can be sustained indefinitely.
Our currency has been backed not by precious metal but only by air since the Federal Reserve came into existence. All these thieves do is turn on the printing press. Every dollar printed cuts the value of every other dollar already in existence. President Kennedy was assassinated, at least in part, because he opposed central banking.
The tax code is a way to rob Peter to pay Paul, as in the EIC and Child Tax Credits, for example. Some can itemize, most no longer can. Teachers get some breaks on their taxes but most other employees do not.
Corporations are getting huge, huge tax breaks now, while many low income folks have lost jobs. True the unemployment rules are better for now.
I do see many dogs being walked and yards being cared for. My church goes to the local hospital at shift change BID with signs letting folks know we are praying for them and are grateful for them. I have been going to local police and fire stations with signs of appreciation expressed. It feels good to thank them.
I hear that 5G cell microwave transmission equipment is being installed in schools. Talk about loss of privacy...
Big Brother grows bigger, the population is intentionally killed off with the virus, fear and stress are instilled in us. Come back quickly, Lord Jesus.
The Bible tells us that one-world government and anti-Christ are coming. Good time to learn more about Revelation and endtime prophecy, and salvation through Jesus.
Don't be offended by my opinion, I am just sharing what I believe. No one here has to agree.

Almost every country on the planet has it regardless of attempts to control it. So by collectively stupid you mean all humanity.

He merely made a remark about it would be something to explore. It would also be nice if bleach could be used to kill HIV but we, of course, can't do that.
The media hates Trump. Yes, he gives them lots of ammo, but they take advantage of him so shamelessly.
Did you personally hear what he said?

I think it's time for the rest of the world to start paying their fair share. why do US taxpayers have to always foot the bill - monetarily and with the blood of our sons and daughters?
We need to re-evaluate what we really get from the money we spend on protecting our allies.

OK
Arguably, withdrawal of funds, in the midst of a global pandemic while there's an appearance that the action is at least partly motivated by petty personal politics, is not a wise choice.
I don't think that US tax payers should foot the bill with blood for sure. That budget, however is priority.

That might be an interesting thread for the breakroom. If you started one I would read and participate. There's no shortage of prophetic passages to consider. Unfortunately, lime politics, discussion is often difficult and too personal.

Whether life was created by God as literally outlined in the Bible, or the Big Bang Theory, doesn't have a whole lot of influence on our day-to-day lives.
I challenge you to pick up the Bible and read it for YOURSELF... it has all the answers to the mysteries of today... I am a living witness to the testimonies of the True and LIVING God! I thank God daily for the sacrifice Christ made on the cross over 2,000 years ago on behalf of ALL humanity! This is where my joy and peace come from though everything around me is crumbling.... I pray that whoever read this take heed and repent!! Cry out to the living God to save your soul!
