Is the Coronavirus beginning the breakdown of our society?

Nurses COVID

Updated:   Published

Doesn't it feel like this might be a very rocky time for humanity? Our healthcare system already felt like it was stressed to the max, and then this virus came along to bring it to its knees.

And now the general economy is becoming unraveled. The intricate web of the global economy seems to be quickly falling to pieces.

I hope a societal breakdown isn't on the horizon.

And you wish to drag Trump into every thread on this website. I agree that government has much to do with order but that includes many more facets than just Trump. There is much to government including local, state, federal, you get the idea. How do you think turning every thread into a partisan debate is going to be beneficial to anyone?

There are many, many things one can talk about in the topic without making it all about Trump. I can see everyone who visits saying to themselves " Here we go again." I for one am tired of it and would just like to participate in a non partisan thread.

How well do you think Trump is doing now? You can't have this discussion without bringing it Trump into it. Maybe another president could have handled this in a worst fashion, but that would be a statistical improbability since Trump is anti-science. We might not even have this thread if we had handled this as well as other countries. Maybe not, though, because we are so fat.

I challenge you to pick up the Bible and read it for YOURSELF... it has all the answers to the mysteries of today... I am a living witness to the testimonies of the True and LIVING God! I thank God daily for the sacrifice Christ made on the cross over 2,000 years ago on behalf of ALL humanity! This is where my joy and peace come from though everything around me is crumbling.... I pray that whoever read this take heed and repent!! Cry out to the living God to save your soul!

Because if we don't, he's going to set us on fire and let us burn for eternity?

And, you're going to worship him for doing so.

If one is attempting to ponder the affect of Coronavirus on the future of human society, such an undertaking is impossible from within the confines of not only one nation's perspective but also from deep within one's own narrow interpretation of a specific sect of an offshoot of one the many world religions.

In other words, closed-mindedness is what is going to bring society to its knees, not a virus.

I listen to the local police scanner. Domestic calls are coming in rapidly.

The more I think about this the more I think that the breakdown of our society started long before covid. I think that the hyperpartisan environment we find ourselves in currently is causing way more harm than good. We the people should be standing together (in spite of our differences in how we see the world) against the corruption in the gov (both sides) as well as corporations etc. I dont think that the media is helping this either. We the people should not have to decipher absolutely everything we hear/read. At one point in time this was actually the job of journalists. Oh I am sure there are a few good ones around somewhere but it seems many are just as happy contributing to the chaos. It is just sad to me cuz I feel that we are just going to implode and in part it may be we all cut off our noses to spite our face.

A hyperpartisan environment is encouraged from the Oval Office and has been since 2017. This American carnage was identified as something only one person can fix...but that person doesnt want any accountability while fanning partisan flames.

Should we the people be standing together to decrease spread of the dangerous disease or standing together to force low wage workers into unsafe work environments? Should we stand together to follow CDC guidelines or the president's ignorant musings?

The role of journalists is to report facts and evidence. Who, what, when, where, how and why of relevant issues...reporting facts takes on a while different meaning when the president is a habitual liar.

A hyperpartisan environment was started by the Democratic party and the (so called) mainstream media prior to Trump even becoming President. There was talk of impeachment even before the inauguration, the WH press conferences were down right hostile toward the press secretary, the WH doctor etc and for the most part continue to this day. Of course we should hold the President and all politicians accountable but I (in the last 40yrs) have never seen such hostility and animosity toward any President. And, I am sure that every single past President has lied/misspoke, done things some would call incompetent etc. You are right that the job of journalists is to report the who, what when etc but it seems that some (if not most) are not only bias but outright hostile towards the President (and usually any supporters as well) also giving their opinions and/or the "facts" as told by some "expert". You have your opinion and I have mine, it is OK to have different opinions. But, my point was that we, as Americans, are supposed to still be on the same side. The "facts" are getting harder and harder to come by and that should not be. We are seeing more and more censorship and gov involvement/control and that should be a giant wake up call to anyone who enjoys their liberty. We all should care and be on the same side!

Actually, it's not that difficult to get the facts. You just have to do your research and Trump is different, awfully different in the worst way. I grew up one borough from him when his father was still alive, so I think I know who he is more than someone from out of town. He couldn't be elected dog catcher in NY because he has been very open about what a dirtbag he is. He's not intellectually or emotionally capable of doing a good deed. So dumb that he constantly makes himself fodder for journalists...not those non-journalistbigmouths on Fox who are constantly selling snakeoils to the public in their commercials. They are not professionnal journalists but lots of lawyers with long blond hair and big boobs which I am forced to lookout because their blouses are cut too low.

Even if everything you say is true doesnt that say something about how many (millions) of people felt about the status quo of government. Most people I know who voted for Trump didn't do it bc they thought he was a great guy, had a great personality etc. They voted for him bc they were tired of the ongoing corruption and politicians (both sides) only working for themselves, big gov, corporations etc and thought he would work for we the people. Even now, look at all the crap they are putting in these covid stimulus bills, same as when Obama was President (I am not happy about some of it but IMO Trump is at least trying). The mainstream media has long slated left but it has got way worse over the years, that is how Fox News started and why Fox continues to do good in ratings bc it presents the other side. News organizations should not be presenting sides, they should be neutral and unbiased. Still doesnt change the fact that we are all on the same side and should want the best for the Country, and our own individual liberties. I hope we are not in a losing battle.

That might be an interesting thread for the breakroom. If you started one I would read and participate. There's no shortage of prophetic passages to consider. Unfortunately, lime politics, discussion is often difficult and too personal.

Thanks. Yes, maybe I should join that room.

I recall watching footage when this started when your president stood up and said "if only 10-20,000 people die from this we';ve done a good job"

And in the last couple of days when he stated

Quote

"They're running into death just like soldiers run into bullets, in a true sense," https://tinyurl.com/yabj8e5t

Personally if I wanted to perform the role of a soilder I would have joined the army.

IMO a large part of why america is in the position it is in is because of your president. I'm not biased either. If any politican, including Obama stood up and demonstrated the callousness and complete ineptitude Trump as you bet I would be just as critican
