I have been following the weather channel, and I know this is a scary hurricane. Wondered how the folks in the direct area are holding up?

May God bless and keep you safe.

I am also thinking of the nursing homes that are under evacuation at the moment, and the hospitals that will on alert for what is to come.

For all of those Katrina's path, I will keep you all in my prayers that God will spare you all the horrible devastation these hurricanes leave.

I am also following the situation and am worried for all of you who are in the danger zone. I am becoming increasingly aware of the potential problems for the aftermath as well. My thoughts and good wishes are with you ((all)).

My friend Christy and her family are holed up there. She and her mother are nurses. Her new husband has to stay because his job, and her brother in law is in the national guard and he is posted at one of the street corners.

She called me about an hour ago and she said they were able to buy plywood this morning, first come first serve and are boarding up the windows of their new home. (newlyweds)

Keep them in your prayers.

so what about the hospitals? do they evacuate as many stable pt's as they can? transfer them to other hospitals? What about unstable ICU type pt's who can't be transferred safely?

Is the hospital down there strong enough to withstand a hurricane? DOn't they have a children's hospital in the vicinity?

Anyone close to Monroe, my son and granddaughter live there, talked to him this a.m., he said he doesn't think it will get that bad there. I am worried that it will get worse than he is anticipating, I tried to talk him into leaving.

Although I'm not affected directly, my aunt and her family are in the direct path of the hurricane (suburb of N.O.). They've left to go....somewhere....they really don't know where they're going at this point as the other cities are so overwhelmed. They're just going north until they find something. I'm hoping to hear something from them soon.

our lady of the lakes children hospital is in Baton Rouge. Christy told me they had received pts from New Orleans.

For those in the path of Katrina, please know that you have my thoughts and prayers. We've been watching the path of the storm. We don't have anyone down there in the area as we did with the FL hurricanes, but our thoughts and prayers are with everyone down there! You all be safe and hopefully this will lose strength and be over soon.

and these are my thoughts and wishes for safety for all those people down in the area of Katrina

I am in Monroe!! It will be safe here, all we will probably get is alot of rain and winds probably 50 miles per hour. If people here can stay home tomorrow and not get on the road much, all should be fine. Patio furniture should be put in a garage or pulled in close to the house, limbs could fall, could have some power outages, but they should be safe! I have lived here all my life and I am just horrified by this storm!! Especially for the N.O area and Mississippi Gulf Coast! Pray for them!

My husband and brother in law are on their way. Their specials operations rescue units will move in as soon as the storm passes.

I pray that people have cleared out. I boggles my mind that people are still ignorant enough to be on the beach to "watch the storm come in."
