Is anyone here loving nursing school?

:specs:Hi everyone. Is anyone here loving nursing school? If so, what is it that you love so much?:heartbeat

Also, is there anyone here who maybe isn't managing well? If so, what is going on?:uhoh3:

:dncgcpd:I am currently in the first quarter of nursing school at Galen. I am getting ready to start 2nd quarter in two week. So far, it has been tolerable.:anbd: I seem to be managing well. I am lucky because I don't have to work. I commend anyone who works while going to school.:yeah:

I just want to hear from some students to see how things are going for them. Feel free to talk about whatever. If you need to vent, that is fine too.:hlk:

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

Since I'm a person who enjoys stretches of unstructured free time, I am not exactly loving nursing school because it consumes so darned much of my precious time. I graduate in a few weeks and am really becoming tired of the daily grind of getting it all done.

Also, the politics of nursing school deeply disturb me. One student can get austerely punished for wrongdoings that other classmates openly get away with. It's not fair.

Specializes in acute care.

Love? Heck no

Like? Barely

Like The Commuter, it's the politics of the school that I can't stand. The rules do not apply to everyone.

I'm almost done, and then I can put it all behind me.

Thanks for your imput "TheCommuter" & "NyDreamer":tku:

Congratulations on graduation being just around the corner!(TheCommuter) :grad:Wow-I can not wait until I am finished.

It is so soon into the program I am in that politics have not been added into the picture yet. However, I know what you guys mean because it was like that all throughout the LPN program.:anbd:

Have a great week, and Happy Monday.:hgu:

Haven't started school yet, but I passing by my campus the other day, and it felt like I was this close to heaven or hell(i'll find that out in 2 months.)

Specializes in PICU/Pedi.

I am one that loves it. I love the material, I love learning skills. I even like studying, although sometimes the amount I have to study drives me nuts. I love figuring out WHY a disease does what it does, or how the body systems work together, how meds work, etc. I'm always nervous about clinicals but they always turn out good.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not a "Pollyanna". There are things I don't like. Lack of time spent with kids, boyfriend, and family gets old. The running around like a chicken with it's head cut off, esp. at the beginning of every semester. Some of my classmates irritate me. I get tired of hearing all the ******** about things I don't think are that big a deal. But I would be devastated if I could no longer go to school.

Specializes in SNU/SNF/MedSurg, SPCU Ortho/Neuro/Spine.

loving every minute of it! looking forward to have some time off to play videogames though!

That is so good to hear. I am enjoying school right now too. I am looking forward to starting the nursing curriculum. Right now, I am taking only prerequisite classes. However, second quarter starts in two weeks, and I will be taking 3 nursing courses, and A&P 2. I will be taking med surg, pharmacology, cultural diversity to be specific. Speaking of, I need to order my books today! :tinkbll:

Thanks for your input. :tku:

Video games? I am a reality t.v show junkie. I have to make time for my favorite shows. For example, the bachelor is on tonight at 9, and I am definitely making time for that. :rckn:

I am loving it. I come home energized, happy and ready to get down to business. That being said, I am more anxious than I have ever been in my life and my family relationships are definitely undergoing an adjustment. It is HARD. And I am only in my third week of my first semester, so I am pretty much waiting for the other shoe to fall.

That's good. I am finishing first quarter now, and finals are next week. I have research papers due all this week and next. It's has been crazy busy for me this past week. :grn:

Good luck with school!
