Irritating Classmates

I know we've all seen the threads about those classmates that makes us want to stick a knife in our head, but I'm at wits end at this point. We're only halfway through the program, but the amount of noise, drama, and childishness from some of them is giving me headaches.

There's the girl that has a question every three minutes who also has the family member who has had every known disease. She's also the one who has always says, "Ok, I thought the book said _________ so on the test what's the answer going to be?"

There are the two girls that think they're cool and in some kind of reality show but actually come across as spoiled, overly needy brats like the trash you'd see on Jersey Shore. They're the loud ones that always have to comment in manners such as "WOW, OMG, or WOAH." They actually say the letters O, M, G.

Finally, there's the girl who thinks we're all a close knit group who is seemingly unaware of the cliques and factions going on. She's our designated classleader who doesn't lead. I'm not sure why a school program needs a student leader, but that's an issue I can't change I suppose.

I've been yelled at, cursed out, spit on, and fought with, but the amount of drama that I mentioned above is far worse than anything I ever experienced from drunks and crackheads on the streets. I know people are diverse, but I can't even stand going to class anymore because it all needs to be reigned in.

I have no doubt that I probably annoy some people in my class. I welcome them to come vent about it here. Everyone deserves to vent and let off some steam. Better to do it here than to the person in a case like this. Since it's just a behavior that annoys some and the person isn't necessarily doing anything wrong. It's nice to be able to come to Allnurses and vent to people that understand.

Oh God, you must be in my class.

We have three that sit there and just repeat everything the instructor says and then go "Is that what you mean?" Shut up already. She just said that and repeating it doesn't make you look smarter just because your "participating".

We've got one of those.

Then there's the guy that sits up front and mumbles 300 questions during lecture. The instructor answers them but we have no idea what she's talking about because we can't understand what he asked.

We've got a girl who does this. I can never hear a word she says so I never know what the instructor is talking about. I just want to say speak up or shut up.

There's the girl who was like 10 minutes pregnant when she started having to take breaks in clinical to eat something every fifteen minutes and refused to pick up anything heavier than a band aid because she didn't want to have a miscarriage.

We don't have her YET but we did have one who would tell everyone who would listen all about how she was the single mother of two kids and how hard it was and blah blah blah. She left out the part about not even having custody of them.

And worst of all the guy whose uncle is an anesthesiologist at the local hospital which he seems to think makes him a physician by default. Insists on wearing his lab coat to clinicals and won't correct anyone if they refer to him as "doctor".

We also had one of these. He was telling his patients he was a psychiatrist.

Ugh, I cannot wait until this semester is over and I am finally done with all this foolishness!!

Sounds like you're in MY class!

Who cares how your classmates act? Is it really going to matter in a couple of years? You probably won't even remember their names. Why let it bother you so much?

As for being one of the careless people that talk too much...I guess that's a matter of perspective. But I'm fine with who I am and isn't that what truly matters at the end of the day?

I agree with this second part. I am an assertive person and I am not afraid to ask questions pertaining to the subject if I am unsure about something, or answer a question, and I could really care less what people think about me.

But I don't think that just because someone vents here, that it's something effecting their life. Their are a few people in my class that annoy the heck out of me during class. Outside of class I don't think about them unless I am here and reading about people seeing the same thing or I think about it because I am talking with fellow nursing students. (although annoying people aren't limited to nursing) other than that though, it's not like I go through my day thinking about these people. Shoot their are people that annoy me on here as I am sure I annoy some people here. But outside of visiting this forum I don't think about it them.

The people I think about from school or even here outside of those places are the people that have made a positive impact in my life.

Reading these posts has sure made me giggle and feel like I am not alone in my struggles trying to deal with certain classmates. Sounds like we all have them. I figure it is good practice because we are going to see all these same people again and again as co-workers, patients, physicans and families :)

We have "Super slow-mo talker guy", "Over animated hand talker girl", the "My life is a basket case and I am gonna tell you all about" girl, "Know it all done it all girl", of course the "I know someone with every kind of disease", "My Uncle is a doctor so that makes me one" and my favorite " I have been thru this before, I know what I am doing" guy. So hard for me NOT to say "Well OBVIOUSLY you don't know what your doing, your back here taking this program AGAIN are you not"?

So nice to have this forum to vent a little bit! Good luck to you all in your studies and good luck managing your "irritants" :uhoh3:

People like you are making a bigger deal of it. We came to vent. You came to justify foolishness in class. For those of us that are career changers approaching nursing school as consumers we'd like a little more quality education.

Why be uncouth just because you can?

I don't care if you come here to vent. I think it's actually kind of funny. I've vented before on different threads. I couldn't really care less.

I'm not being uncouth, in fact, I think by personally attacking me, you are in fact, being uncouth yourself. I am answering a thread because I can. It's a public forum. If you don't like it, put me on ignore.

I'm also a career changer and also like a quality education. I am an above average student that I'm sure annoys the heck out of some of my classmates. Do I care? No. Do I care if I'm bugging you? No.

Well I am not a career changer, Pre Reqs and Nursing School are my first college experience and I was a stay at home mom for the past 11 years, but I still want a quality education :|

Who said I cared if anyone vents? I am posting my opinion on this public forum. Are you going to tell me not to?

Ummmm no and I don't believe I tried to. I gave my opinion on a couple of the posts that were stating or implying that these "annoying" people were effecting peoples everyday lives.

Sorry. That was a little premature on my part. I've edited my post.

Lol. You're trying to tell me to stop replying to the other two.
