I know we've all seen the threads about those classmates that makes us want to stick a knife in our head, but I'm at wits end at this point. We're only halfway through the program, but the amount of noise, drama, and childishness from some of them is giving me headaches.
There's the girl that has a question every three minutes who also has the family member who has had every known disease. She's also the one who has always says, "Ok, I thought the book said _________ so on the test what's the answer going to be?"
There are the two girls that think they're cool and in some kind of reality show but actually come across as spoiled, overly needy brats like the trash you'd see on Jersey Shore. They're the loud ones that always have to comment in manners such as "WOW, OMG, or WOAH." They actually say the letters O, M, G.
Finally, there's the girl who thinks we're all a close knit group who is seemingly unaware of the cliques and factions going on. She's our designated classleader who doesn't lead. I'm not sure why a school program needs a student leader, but that's an issue I can't change I suppose.
I've been yelled at, cursed out, spit on, and fought with, but the amount of drama that I mentioned above is far worse than anything I ever experienced from drunks and crackheads on the streets. I know people are diverse, but I can't even stand going to class anymore because it all needs to be reigned in.
This thread is so funny, and so true!! It has been a loongg time since I went to PN school. BUT...I had everyone one of your classmates in my my class...ummm perhaps it was their Moms or at least older sisters!!! LOL. I did my RN with excelsior college, so I was a non-trad. It was easier for me to do the non-trad program, but you gotta be majorly disciplined!!!!(Being OCD would help, too)
I once got in trouble for saying that it was possible to tempt almost anyone to cheat if the information was right in front of their eyes. My table mate thought I meant her and told the instructors that I said she was cheating! The good thing was, I got a new tablemate who was wonderful. She had been in Veternarian training and changed to nursing. She kept comparing things to horses... like.."Where is the hock on a person?"!!! (She didn't bother the instructors with that type question, she asked me, in fun....) She was super book smart, not so much on being floor smart.
One true story is that by the time we did our Psych rotation (last month of school) We were all ready to be committed and we were firmly convinced that each of us had every mental illness in the book, and you know, we probably did!! LOL (OCD, PARANOIA, DEPRESSION-OH YEAH, on and on and on and on-I even saw some catatonic students
The good thing.....the time of school heck will end, and even though you may work with them later, it will be different in the real world.
So, hang in, current and prospective students....Keep your sense of humor, your chin up, and remember...what goes around WILL come around!!!!!!
I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one with crazy classmates! I'm in my last semester and I've been stuck with this one girl for 3 semesters in clinical....oh my she's horrible! I honestly don't know how she has made it this far. She talks about whatever she wants right in the hallways and at the nurses station....I don't mean breaking confidentiality, I just mean dirty crap that you shouldn't be talking about amongst people you hardly know. She swears constantly and has been talked to numerous times about it! Then in lab when we're suppose to be dressed semi-decent with our lab coat, she's wearing jeans with holes, EVERYWHERE and looks like a whore. Sorry, I'm not normally a judgmental person but putting up with this "girl" for the last year has made me go crazy, lol. She's like the ring leader for a few other classmates in clinical.....the others are fine when they're not with her but put them together and they're a bunch of jackasses. It's really annoying with them fooling around all the time and I'm more excited to be done with school to be away from them then to be done with school because I'm done.

We also have a ring leader. The girl with money. It's really amazing to see the change in some of my classmates behavior when she's around as opposed to when she's not around.
I've had classmates that match many of the descriptions here, but I'll add one more:
Bilingual Spanish/English students who think I can't understand them when they call me names (sometimes racial ones) in Spanish right in front of me, then proceed to ask me for study help. Just because I'm an anglo doesn''t mean I can't understand some Spanish, and doesn't mean I'm stupid... which I'm not, because I'm the one with the A average.
im glad i sit in the corner so i can kinda turn my head to the side as i yawn, groan, roll my eyes lmaoooo.m.g.- i swear theres a girl like that in one of my classes, she will not shut it! like maybe if u werent busy trying to be a know it all, you would have heard her explain in 30seconds ago.i love it when she get cut down by the teacher or the teacher doesnt call on her ..haha.. sheesh, give others a chance to speak up.
we had a handful, turn 21 between this semster & last..and i found out one girl in my class is 18..its like frikken day care in there lol
good for you for doing well.
.. if they have something mean/snotty to say its just jealousy. maybe they should study harder
hahaha..ur posts always crack me up
btw i think all of us are in the same class and dont realize it haha
how in god's name are these 18 year olds getting into nursing school?
sometimes i swear there should be an age requirement and a maturity test!
We had an 18 year old when we began. She was a nightmare. Luckily for everyone, she dropped about half way through the first semester...
horray! lol
I can't believe people are getting in that young. How though? I mean here (i live in southern California) RN programs are EXTREMELY competitive, you need everything done, all your sciences and g.e stuff to get into the NS here. the youngst in NS I have seen is turning 21. no younger than that....must be nice lol I am only 21 and not even in NS yet. (but I am applying) lol
The worst classmate....the one person out of a class of 30 who I cannot stand....will not shut up about anything. Not everything a person says constitutes a reply. I would like to remind her that silence is acceptable. I wonder why my teachers don't shut her up more when she interrupts. It's honestly embarrassing to be associated with her. When we had our clinical orientation and she wouldn't shut up about the dumbest details of her life, I wanted to apologize for her. Very nosy girl, always in everyone's business, and after a summer of classes with her, I now know all about her husband's and kid's life issues of which I do not care...these stories were told during precious LECTURE time. I am glad to know that I am not the only one with an irritating classmate. Just talking about this girl is frustrating me.

I'm a little more than halfway through I never really had an issue with anyone. I'm not saying my class is perfect, but no one has any deal breaking traits. Some who do have irritating traits grew on me once I got to know them.
