Here's a new sticky for students involved in online/distance BSN programs through Indiana State University. Enjoy!
If you have to take a foreign language I would take Latin if at all possible. Lots if not all medical terms have Latin roots and even outside of medical terms having Latin helps figure out what a lot of words mean. I taught my kids Latin for a couple of years and learned a LOT just through that! :)
Can someone pm me with the direct number to ISU. The number I have is the 800 one and they direct all calls to TCN for ?'s.
Phone number listed on their web page http://www1.indstate.edu/nursing/
It's not Mike anymore, it's Mark. When I started it was Mike. :) Tell them a couple of different places as soon as you are accepted into the program so they can begin the contract process. It took I think 2 months for mine to get set up. A couple of weeks for NIH but obviously that's different since my friend set it up for me. The one that took a couple months was started from scratch. They're not going to deal with a contract for someone who isn't even a student though. That would be a waste of time because after all that you may not go there.
The process and a list of current sites is on their web at http://isu1.indstate.edu/mary/agencylist.asp#New_Clinical_Contract_Process
But isn't the tech writing one of the ones that can be clep'd and needs to be completed b4 you apply to phase II? If so is it considered upper level, my CC does not have any classes that start with 300 and 400.
Tracy,
your CC doesn't offer any 300 or 400 because those are junior and senior level. Those have to be through a University as CC are only 2 year.
I have been reading this thread for several hours now! You all are giving so much information...thank you very much. I too was told by TCN that TX does not accept program as BSN yet. Guess I'll have to be pro-active in finding out why! Thank you all again for all this useful information!
Tracylvn - Where are you in your prereqs? I'm still trying to sort through everything and give myself the kick in the butt to get started. I think we were in about the same spot a few months ago. Just curious if you have completed any yet. Thanks
We are still in the same boat. I have not started anything yet. Deciding on what ones to take at cc and what to test out on. Not to mention find the motivation to get started.
I haven't posted on here in several weeks but I am still interested in the LPN to BSN program through ISU. I have a question about Phase II and III and the TEAS. When do you take the TEAS? Do you take it before you apply for Phase II or during Phase II. Also the CSMs from TCN when do you take the test on those? Do you have a certain time period to take them in such as the first semester of Phase II.
I still have to get my pre-reqs done. My plan is to attend my local CC this fall and next spring to take English Comp II, Speech, Spanish I and II, Pre-Chem & General Chemistry I. I will clep/ECE the following: A&P, Micro, Human Growth and Development and Introductory Sociology.
Is there anyone just starting out and have lots of pre-reqs to take that would like to be studdy buddys. I am in Mississippi but would be willing to be someones support to get through this through email & IMs.
I am studying for ECE A&P exam right now. I'm finding it very hard to get focused. I have been doing some practice test online and seem to know a good bit but it makes me nervous. I don't want to fail.
Sorry such a long post.
If you would like to IM me my Yahoo IM ID is fayth_love_expectation

Congrats !!!!!!!
There's nothing like the feeling of that passing grade popping up at the end of the test.
What did you use to study this one? TCN? The patho test was hard, I studied TCN and quickly read any books at the library I could get my hands on, but somehow I passed, I'm sure you'll do fine on that one also.
This BSN is absolutely not the easy was out. Just keep plugging along. Yesterday I remember thinking; this is like attacking a brick wall with a toothpick.(I'm doing Algebra and was having a meltdown) It's not speedy, but if you keep it up, each little chunk adds up.
Let us know which one you're doing next.

I forgot to ask. What about the Foreign Language credit. How are you getting that credit?
