Indiana State University BSN students

Here's a new sticky for students involved in online/distance BSN programs through Indiana State University. Enjoy!

But isn't the tech writing one of the ones that can be clep'd and needs to be completed b4 you apply to phase II? If so is it considered upper level, my CC does not have any classes that start with 300 and 400.

It can be CLEPed but its not one that needs to be done before phase 2. I haven't taken it yet. It's on my summer hit list. :smokin: I think in your case I'd either take it through ISU or call them with your cc course catalog and see what they say. Just make sure you talk to one of the people we've mentioned. Dr. M would be your best bet.

I know anaylsis of literature is an upper level this is one of them that can be clep'd and concurrent enrolment with phase II or III. Am i just getting confused all around......

Nope, you are right about that one. That's in addition to the upper level writing course though.

When I met with TCN they marked 11 classes than needed to be completed before I could I could enroll with ISU and Tech writing was one of them....here is the list they marked

1 Freshman college comp- clep 3credits

2 Technical writing with essay dantes 3 credits

3 algerbra clep 3 credits

4 intro to comp dantes 3 cred or info sys/comp appl clep 3 cred

5 intro to public speaking dantes 3 cred

6 antamomy and phys EC 6 cred

7 chemistry clep 4 units

8 micro EC 3 cred

9 intro to psych clep 3 cred

10 intro to socio clep 3 cred

11 lifespan dev psy EC 3 cred

Can you tell me what ones need to be completed before appl is processed. TCN rep told me all of these, and that the PE, Foriegn lang, and remaining 7 classes could be done with concurrent enrolment.

They're correct about all but Tech writing cuz I'm in the ISU program and haven't taken it. lol! I have to retake public speaking (remember that drama? lol!) but they let me in despite that one. On the TCN paper are some lines gray and others white? The gray ones are the ones you need prior to applying. Lemme see if I still have mine somewhere...

Ok, got it. Right above where they add up your cost is a gray box that says the shaded areas are the classes you need prior to phase 2. Tech writing on mine is I. C. and it's not shaded. Is it that way for yours?

It is not shaded on mine either. Thank you for the clafification, that is one less class that I need to worry about immediatly.....So I need 10 before enrolling... cool.

I remeber the pub speaking, I thought you passed though.

The public speaking one is th one where you have to do a speech into a tape recorder and it has to be *exactly* 3-5 minutes. Mine is a little short so DSST failed me. It's on my summer list too but it is dead LAST. I'm still dreading that god-forsaken tape recorder speech. Hand me a paper bag. :banghead:

I feel for you... That is one of the reasons there are certian ones that I want to take at CC the ones that do not have concrete info, like right wrong answers example the eng comp, writing, and speaking. I am not good with writing esp if they give me a topic of no interest to me and I know the speaking will be the same thing. And the Algebra and I just do not get along at all.

Hi,

How do you know that A&I Literature (CLEP) is considered an upper credit class?

Hi,

When you are enrolled at ISU you get a DARS report that lists the classes you still need and links to the courses that can be used to fulfill it. One of them is analysis of literature under upper level writing. Not sure about the CLEP version. It doesn't have the {u} thing on the TCN paper so maybe it's not upper level? The A&I Lit fulfills the literature requirement but the upper level writing is another requirement. Hope that wasn't too confusing.

Thanks.... Tech writing has an "u" by it so I guess I won't worry and I think if I already passed ECE English Comp, I will or should do OK with tech writing.

Brenda why did you take the eng comp through ECE instead of the clep for it?
