Here's a new sticky for students involved in online/distance BSN programs through Indiana State University. Enjoy!
Chaxamom do you know what class at CC woud be equivelent to the technical writing, I am not comfortable cleping this class would rather take at CC but they only off english reading and composition 101 and 102, along with other higher english classes such as library research and bibliogrophy, word literature I and II, eng lit I II, amer lit I II.
I'm looking at my DARS report and it has as options Advanced Expository Writing OR a technical writing course OR this one which sounds like maybe an English Lit course would substitute??
ENG 308 - Pract Lit Crit An advanced writing course exploring and applying various critical approaches to literature. Several papers, including a research paper, are required. Required of English majors and minors on the liberal arts curriculum. Satisfies English 305 requirement. Prerequisites: 105 or 107 or 108 or 130, and the successful completion of 48 semester hours of course work.
3.000 Credit Hours
3.000 Lecture hours
Levels: Undergraduate, 2nd Undergraduate, 3rd Undergraduate, 4th Undergraduate, 5th Undergraduate
Schedule Types: Lecture, Distance Blackboard course, Hybrid Blackboard course
I would ask the nursing department for sure At any rate you can just take one of these courses through ISU once you get into the nursing program since it is offered distance. I'm doing that with my PE course...I forgot about that one, that's the only non-nursing course I'm doing with them. A fitness course online...that should be interesting. lol! "Yes professor, I just took 7 laps around my backyard. Scout's honor I did!"
LOL....PE through distance learning..... I am thinking the same I may end up taking some courses as blackboard with ISU if they are not offered at CC. It may end up being the tech writing and probably statistics. EC no longer offers statistics and my CC requires it's own pre rec's for stats.(Math 123 a b &c) and I do not need them for the ISU program.
Hi,
Ethics, Gerontology, and Pathophysiology are all upper credits. ECE Statistics was but that is no longer available. That leaves Tech Writing with essay, which is a DSST Exam. I heard that exam is fairly easy(much easier that ECE English Comp.) 4 classes at 3 credits each leaves a person with 39 upper nursing credits and 12 "other credits" which gives me a total of 51 upper credits.
Does this seem correct?

Hi,What classes are people choosing to use as their upper credit classes?
It is my understanding that ISU requires 50 Upper credits (classes in the 300's and 400's), 39 you get from the nursing courses and the other 11 you need from other sources.
Thanks, Brenda E.
I have totaled 57 credits for the nursing courses( including pe 101 and intro to womens studies), if you subtract the CSM testouts credts it equals 42 credit hours for the nursing courses.

Seems right. You're correct on the 50 credit upper level and that sounds like the right classes. I should save my DARS report as a text file so you and Tracy can see what the breakdown is. They are kind of weird to read though.
I saw on the USI website about the classes that were needed but not sure how to "translate" them...... It would be so much easier of they all used the same class numbers across the board.... I think I did figure out that eng 102 is equiv to the technical writing they want, because in the admission criteria on ISU they say eng 101 and 105, or 107, and the 105 when I look it up under thier course catalog says it is freshman eng comp II. I just don't want to end up taking courses that I do not need.

It needs to be upper level though so any 300 or 400 writing course would work I think.
