I wonder if we can use the Cal-grant for them? I have not used it and it would be wonderful if I could use that and not have to take out a loan out.

I wonder that too, but I kinda doubt it cause we're in california and the school is in indiana. we could probably get regular state univ grants and federal grants which is what i qualified for in sf state as a sophomore. you could also defer loans while in school and not pay them til u grad and get a job, cause they have in school and unemployment deferments.

So thankful that this site exists! New LPN just graduated last august. So... I'm currently enrolled through ISU just as a transfer student but I'm rushing to get college algebra, intro to psych, and nurs 106 CLEP'd & done this month so I can beat the June 1st deadline and be enrolled as nursing major for Fall semester. (to start phase II get all my clinical stuff organized).

I currently live in VA, however planning to move to So. California by Fall (hopefully?:uhoh21:). My question is about the clinical portion of this program. I've heard some talk about Sonoma State University in CA having a partnership with ISU for the clinical portion of this program. I emailed ISU for information but figured I'd ask on here too.. Is anybody in CA doing their clinical through Sonoma State or have any information??

Thanks again for reading!!

Hi everyone !!

Just back from Gerontology exam - not too bad, again need to know your theories . I used a TCN guide, there was a whole lot that wasn't covered in that guide, but I made it through just with common sense and your LVN class on geriatrics. I signed up for Brenda's instacert and love that!! its really good for the odd courses that are hard to find review books for, like gerontology. Ok I'm 3 tests in 10 days, on to intro to computers and algegra. Sometimes this mountain seems too hard to climb, I just try to remember that saying that walls are only put there to make it so that the people who really don't want it so bad can't get through.

I'm using the Learner.org website (run by the annaberg media group-the pbs guys) a free 13 section video class for chemistry and algebra. I'll let you guys know how that goes. (I found the textbooks on amazone for $2).

Good luck guys!!!

How do you get enrolled in ISU as a transfer student to see where you would stand for Phase 1? The reason I ask is that I'm still enrolled in my LPN program and won't be done for a few months. However, I already know that I would like to enroll in ISU lpn-bsn program when I'm done. I do have a previous bachelors degree with many of the phase 1 courses done. How do I find out what they will take and what I still need? I would like to get phase 1 done ASAP, so I can go right into phase 2 as soon as I get my license.

Does anyone have any advice for me or know of someone at ISU I should be talking to?

Thanks,

Marci

as i know in order to enroll in isu lpn-bsn distant learning program you have to finish lvn school and pass boards as your 1st step. you have to hold a license to enroll. if i am wrong someone please correct me.

You need to talk to either Kim Cook or Marcia Miller at ISU.

Another quick question for anyone that can answer it. When you are in phase III and taking the online nursing classes, How do the tests work do you need a proctor for each test, and if so does it need to be an independent paid one?

Depends on the class. We do ATI so you need a proctor for that. I had 4 classes and for Transition LPN to BSN we had timed pharmacology tests, for Research the tests were open book (but still HARD), for Nursing in Mental Illness the unit tests were online but the final which is worth more than 50% of your grade was proctored, Assessment was online/open book but a lot of the final grade was a head to toe assessment that you had to videotape yourself doing and send it in.

I used a community college for my proctored tests but a lot of libraries offer proctoring services too.

Hi,

How much money is this program & can it be financed easily? Meaning do they point you in directions for reimbursement?

I am an LPN who also has a BA & most of the non-nursing courses needed for the BSN.

Is there anyone in the state of Vt that is considering doing this or already doing this?

If I start this, I will need a support network. I've taken classes online & can be disciplined when I need to be.

Any information will be appreciated! Thanks!

Do you have to pay for the proctoring? That just adds to the list of all the other fees that have to be paid.... Do you tape the assesment during a clinical shift or just have a family member volumteer. I know this is a BSN program and not gonna be easy, but the more and more info I'm reading it seems like the process is really hard.....
