:confused::down::down::down::confused::down::down::down:Have you been in a deli, pizza shop, restaurant, bakery, etc...and the staff open doors, change money and handle then bag your food with the same worn out pair of gloves the last 30 customers had the pleasure of bring home germs from? Have they no one to advise them? As the prices here in the United States continue to rise, how is it that our standards as consumers slide downhill and allow us to accept this ignorance and lack of good hygiene...........I'm sure with the extra income gauged by some shopkeepers they could afford the change of gloves between customers or enforce hand washing. Have you ever seen your local deli man wash his hands between customers? Me either. I have recently started to complain when neither is done in front of me.......afterall when they or their family members come to the hospital I'm sure they would quickly complain if immediately after assisting in a pericare I began to administer meds to them or one of their families. lightbulb.pngAs Nurses can we all do a little patient teaching in our local eateries. Please, it's the least we can do, afterall we have no clue what techniques are used in restraunt kitchens skeleton.pngthat we don't see. Just my 2 cents:twocents::twocents:

i worked in a restaurant when i was in paramedic school. some of the stuff i saw would make you not want to ever eat out again. i just always hope the bacteria cooks off on the grill. :)

my brother sent me this study someone did about lemon slices at restaurants that you put in your tea or water. they alone had more e.coli and staph than your local toilet seat.

if i'm at somewhere like subway or jersey mikes and i see the guy with the same pair of gloves he just counted cash at the register with on about to make my sub, i'll ask him to please change them. that's foul.

Hubby hates to eat out with me because I *always* see the health code violations!! I once refused to eat at a restaurant where they prepped the food in view of the dining area and I saw a worker with gloves pause while cutting up veggies and WIPE HIS NOSE ON HIS FOREARM alarmingly close to the gloves. Another time I was behind a grown man at a salad bar and witnessed him put salad dressing on his salad and then LICK THE LADLE and put it back in the container. I said loudly, "OMG...you didn't just lick that and put it back!!" He looked at me like I'd grown two heads when I called the bar attendant over to remove the container of dressing. I've also seen a kid SNEEZE all over a tray of cookies and SAW THE DROPLETS, yet when I told the bakery worker she started to remove just the first row or two of cookies. I told her I saw spray hit the whole ******* tray and she needed to toss them all. Another time I saw two kids getting bar food to go and they were eating strawberries from the bar....okay, not exactly kosher, but nothing entirely wrong. UNTIL one of them stuck strawberries in the chocolate sauce, licked it off, and proceeded to DOUBLE DIP!!!

ARGH!!

It's safer to just eat at home where you know it's clean!

One time when I was at work I ran down to the cafeteria to get something to eat. I asked for a piece of pizza to go and the worker told me that he wan't going to put on a pair of gloves for just one piece of pizza and proceeded to hand me the pizza pan for me to pull my piece of pizza off. I told him to forget it because I couldn't take a piece without touching another piece. I got something else for dinner and told the cashier about the pizza incident and she jumped right on it. He didn't work there long.

I was at my HOSPITAL sandwich bar... the worker was wearing the plastic gloves and emptying the TRASH- tied it up, threw it in the back, then walked up to me and asked for my order. I gave it to him thinking surely he will wash his hands. NOPE- kept the same gloves and began making my lunch! I said "aren't you going to change those gloves?". Guy just looks at me all annoyed says "oh yeah" and takes them off- but keeps asking me what else I want on my sandwich! Like I'm gonna eat that! I just said "nevermind". Brought my lunch from then on.

Just last week I saw a visitor in our cafeteria sneeze into the forks and walk away, and it was a good healthy sneeze if you know what I mean .... the cashier and I both looked at each other with a look of disgust and she went and removed the forks and put out some plastic ones. I am pretty sure she was disgusted enough to make sure they got put through the dishwasher again.

My husband and I went to Golden Corral for Thanksgiving dinner (cheezy I know but it's just the 2 of us and no family lives in town). We were waiting for someone to cut and serve the turkey, when I watched in horror as the server placed a raw brisket on the grill with his gloved hands, then without changing gloves sliced and served my husband some turkey. I gagged when I saw "juice" dripping from his gloves onto the cooked turkey :barf01:Then to top it off, we watched him go to the oven, still has not changed gloves, and press the pizza dough with his finger to see if it was done!

Needless to say we did not eat a bite, complained to the manager and got the heck outta there. We did not get our money back but got coupons to return another time. Um, no thanks!

We ended up rushing to the grocery store before it closed and getting the stuff to cook our own little TG dinner at home. It was wonderful!

We don't eat at buffets for this very reason...

Wow... I don't think I would have left that restaurant without getting my money back! Coupons? No thanks... a simple call to the health department on Monday morning or a very loud comment about cross contamination should have been enough for that manager to pony up the dough. They would not have been keeping my hard-earned dollars.

People are so gross. They are literally disgusting.

:D

And if any of you try to defend them it is only because YOU are one of those gross people. Ugh..........

ROFL

My dh and I were having dinner at an Olive Garden a few years ago. Dh was eating a pasta dish and as he took the fork towards his mouth....I noticed something sticking out. It was fake nail!!!!!!!!!!! OMG I freaked. We called over the mgr who proceded to fall over himself apologizing. It wasn't his fault. He did say gloves were mandatory when any food was being handled but some employees just buck the system. He said he would rectify the situation and also use this as an example as to why gloves are important. If the chick had put gloves on the fake offending nail would have come off in the glove, not the pasta! They did give us gift cards and of course comped our meal. I gave the gift cards to a friend!
