:redpinkheI am an LPN and feel the same way. A famed medical facitily in the bronx has an office manager calling '" can i have one of the nurses come up here ( to the frontoffice). Two of the pct's come running to her office . They pass me as I walk there. When I get to the door and say yes? The office manager says its ok M.G. is here(the pct). HELLO I was the only nurse in the entire building. I remember looking at M.G. 's Montefiore HOSP. ID tag that had a stick pin with a smile right through the word PCT. SHE ALWAYS PRETENDED SHE WAS AN RN.......scary . this was done so pt.s could not read it and see that she was not a nurse. I remember a pt asking why M.G. didn't give her the b12 inj. I explained to her that only a nurse can administer injections. Their comment was oh i thought M.G. was a nurse.....I said sorry I'm the only licensed nurse in this office. WE MUST HAVE SOME UNITY AND HAVE A UNIVERSAL COLOR JUST FOR LPNS AND ADD A STRIPE OR SOMETHING TO SIGNIFY THE RNS and their importance!!!!!!!!!!!! CONSTANTLY NEW PAPER WORK IN THE FACILITIES CONSTANT NEW CHANGES they recognize so many things that need inprovement and more loggs more papers more tasks but what about more recognition as to who is who???????but no recognition of the nurses. HELL I'D EVEN GO BACK TO WEARING THE HAT. IT IS VERY UNFAIR. AND SHAME on MONTEFIORE MED CENTER. BECAUSE I REPORTED THIS AND NOTHING HAS CHANGED. hospital administrators need to ask themselves the next time you or a loved one rush into an ED /ER who do you want in a crisis situation ..........the RN accompanied by an LPN or a few PCTs who feel they have seen enough television to triage the pt c ARDS.........Hey what if they missed that episode on greys anatomy....well that is the only A&P most of them have ever been exposed to. My other beef is with these Med Techs. They are hired to hand out pills they don't even have an understanding of the drug classification. DAMN, This is wrong. Stop all the xtra paper work and let nurses be nurses. Hello......PLEASE DOWNSIZE AND CRITIQUE THE HOUSEKEEPING DEPT. OR DIETARY. DITY ROOMS AND LOUSY FOOD. SOME ONE FIX THOSE DEPTS. LEAVE NURSING TO THE LICENSED PROFESSIONALS. :yeah::yeah:

You know you have to choose your battles. It really seems like he is just being a wise ass. I would just tell him firmly "cut the s_ _t !!!" and take it as a rude compliment then if you need you can add " Speak to me like that again and I'll report it. He'll get the drift..... I wouldn't report it just yet..... even a jerk has probally spent a lot of time studying. But then again you could ask him if will speak like that around pericare time with his female patients.....That responce would be enough to straighten him out or have him thrown out....you be the judge good luck good nite.:coollook::coollook:

I am an LPN ....any one in monroe...can you give advise to me i am lpn wanting to quickly get rn. i am 46 yo and do not have the patience for online programs....i have heard horror stories of one A&P teacher at Monroe .. is this true. I hate to take out more loans when I am still paying off my LPN loans. My LPN program was excellent. I could not bear to put more expence on my self and not pass the course due to horrible teachers....Please advise...anyone taking or have taken this bronx, ny LPN to RN program please enlighten me also has anyone heard or taken the Achieve test prep course in New Jersey ... whats this all about they say you can graduate in less than one year what do you think?

The main SIMILARITY between the LPN & the RN is PHARMACOLOGY..... No matter what state..... the pham. knowledge for both is fair game on state boards. The LPN is tested on the same drugs as the RN.......... So to cathylady, you seem to be the defensive one, perhaps you have been challenged by an LPN or two.........Maybe even corrected by one........ Have a nice day and try to type c less of an angry edge.

The mere fact that you are questioning how nsg. classes may affect a personal relationship makes me wonder ....if you need to FIRST.... RE-EVALUATE THIS RELATIONSHIP !!!!!!! this is your career the guys may come and go but your nsg. license is forever.

:uhoh3::uhoh3:There is lots of truth to this, there will be strains on all relationships. One bit of advise I was given was forget your friends for a while....as long as the nsg program, you'll make new ones in school....no truer words...until you experience the nsg course , its very difficult to understand . my take on it is the entire program is geared to training your mind to understand the nsg process and critical thinking. the average person could not make the proper life and death decisions that you will be schooled to do , so for a while you will need these new "friends to learn and grow and even study with. " only another nurse can understand -another nurse" If you are a CNA please leave it at the door....nothing an instructor likes less than the CNA who thinks they know more than they do. As for sex...please.... birth control . Five women became preg. during my LPN program and 3 failed 1 quit and the 5th was successful but had fetal demise in her 7th month , and had to also quit . 5 out of 5....get it? and instructor will advise.....not the best time to get preg. towards the end of our semesters the material kept getting harder and the tests........well they could be every day....every day in several different different courses...that means very often 2-3 tests each day.................so tell your friends you love them and you'll party c them when it's over. have the full support of your partner or you are doomed. got it? raw facts, but I'm sure all will agree, very tough road, but definitely do able.... or there would be no nurses,,,,,..just study every day. good luck:nurse:

Please remember that the Pharmacology portion of state boards is the same for RN's and LPN's.......now rethink before you go to your employer and remember you are an employee at will, one who accepted the position at your current salary. Suck it up, and when evaluations roll around you can ask for an increase commensurate your reviewed productivity. ONCE AGAIN GET OFF OF THE RN HIGH HORSE THERE THERE IS PROBALLY A REASON THE SALARIES VARY. FYI i AM AN lpn AND i MAKE $45.00 PER HOUR ON PRIVATE DUTY CASES. WE SET A PRICE AND MAINTAIN IT BASED ON OUR MERITS. GOOD LUCK HANG IN THERE AND STAY COOL MAYBE YOU CAN LEARN A THING OR TWO FROM THE LPN.

a very close friend of mine had worked c the royal family and truth be told .....she explaines that thet were very happen with the care given by the rare commodity of american nurses but were even more delighted by the fact they were no threat...... as american nurses were not fluent or even close to mastering their rapidly spoken language. great money... work three years and lots of 24 kt gold and enough money to retire on when you come back.......if you come back....do your job and follow the rules... DOROTHY ,your not in kansas anymore.....good luck my friend could not go back any more because her children were to afraid since 911

you know when your blood sugar is low watch for your signs& symptoms ....so just carry your glucose tabs, or even better, as my Phamacology teacher told us.........carry a small tube of cake decorators icing, found in the baking isle of all supermarkets. ........ Place in buccal cavity and there you go.
