Some of my school work is done online, weekly discussion posts etc. This week, a girl (at another campus, so I dont know her personaly) totally ripped off my post! It's super obvious, I've emailed the instructor, so hopefully this will get taken care of. But still... I'm soooo upset that someone actually copied and pasted my work as their own! Arghhh!! Has this ever happened to you? Or someone you know? What would/did you do?

never happened to me but would certainly tell the instructor. Is there anyway you can make it password protected then email the password to the instructor?

Put it in word and disable the edit, read only or make it a pdf.

I have not had a similar experience. I don't blame you for being really ticked off.
Come back and post a follow up!

I am assuming your online postings are simular to the way we do it at my school (we use BlackBoard). If that is the case your posts should be time stamped and your teacher will know who posted first. All you can do is what you have already done. Tell the teacher and let her handle it.

Someone once took an outline of mine, barely changed it and turned it in as his own work. It was an online class, so we had to review each other's work.
I sent him a very terse email about what he did and told him in no uncertain terms to knock that **** off.
RLTinker, yes it's pretty similar to blackboard. The instructor did email me back, saying thanks for bringing it up. Im still tempted to go to the DON.
Another student (a good friend also) replied to her post, calling her out on the blatant copy of my work. It made me smile. I imagine she'll be getting a talking to, but then again I've seen someone get booted from this program for less...

Why do you need to go to the director? You let your instructor know so let her deal with it. At the very least give him/her a chance to deal with it.
