IF you WEREN'Ta nurse, what would you be???

Published

:rolleyes:Ok...SO I am curious because at least once a month, I don't want to be a nurse. Maybe something triggers that or IDK, but I actually think I could be a singer. Or just travel the world...but I would need alot of money for that. Maybe a farmer- I know sounds crazy but...sometimes I just want to be free like that.

I went to school for 6 years and studied art...then I made the switch because I knew it would be a "fall-back career.

Art is an unpredictable market so...

Now...wait a minute...for all you hecklers out there, I enjoy being a nurse, and this "fall-back" thing was when I first started. My view has changed, so don't post anything passing judgement.

So....yeah.... If you weren't a nurse what would you be? (esp. in this dry desert of an economy)

A lingerie model:D, but if that didn't work out.....Nursing!!!! I am only a student.....which I feel like I will be a forever student. Oh, can we pick "lottery winner" as something we would like to be??

Pastry chef/cake artist!

It's amazing how many of you want to do bakery!! WOw...I think that is a wonderfully relaxing 2nd career idea.

Hrm... any job in the world? A hotel/resort/spa reviewer of all the hot spots around the world! :lol2:

NIce....I never thought of that...mayby I'll add that to my list!!:lol2:

After a night of dealing with drug seeking whiners, I would love the peace and quiet of stocking shelves in a grocery store somewhere on night shift. The canned green beans would not yell at me or tell me to hurry up. I'm calmer just thinking about it.

Travel photographer/safari guide :) (at least in my dreams!)

My favorite meditation scripture. And through Christ, I have done very many seemingly "impossible things!!

my biggest pet peeve about nursing is being stuck inside a single building/unit for hours upon hours. Ideally, I'd find myself in a job that keeps me outdoors. My cousin and her husband are anthropologists/palentologists - so playing in the dirt all day sounds awesome! otherwise, I'd get my pilots license, move to Alaska, and be a bush pilot/tour guide/wildlife photographer living in a small log cabin with at least 100 acres to call my own - hehe. :)

Love it!!!!...and EXACTLY!!! you hit it right on the head for me...being indoors all day blows, but I think that's why I gravitate to HOme health because it allows me to get out..so to speak.

I would be a teacher or work somewhere in law enforcement. The military forced me to train in military police, but I don't see doing the field work side of it. I would like to work in administration or as a dispatcher. This is all assuming that it remains just as hard to get a teaching job as a nursing job.

This has been a fun post, reading everyone's idea of a better or more fun career. Since I was a little girl, I was always told that I talked too much, and in elementary school, I always tried to help everyone else before I did my own work. I grew up wanting to be a teacher, but in Jr. High, I decided I wanted to be an Orthodontist. While in High School, the counselors introduced me to the nursing program that was looking for students out of High School. I went on to become an LPN, and then years later completed my RN.

I still thought about being a teacher, so I decided to substitute teach at my son's school. I did this for a few years on my days off from nursing, but it just did not fill that void. As I worked as an RN, I loved the new grads and new nurses to my unit, because I would get to preceptor and mentor them. They all told me I should teach nursing, that I was really good at it, making them feel comfortable in what they are doing. I went back to school for my BSN, and I am now teaching an LPN/RN 1 + 1 program. I absolutely love it. It is everything I always wanted, and more!!!! I have found that career that I had always hoped I would find. I feel privileged to be able to do what I had dreamed I could do later in life.

I also like being a lifelong student, I love school!!! Going to school, teaching school, whatever!!!! A lot more school for me in the future, working on my MSN, and hopefully enough energy to continue for my PhD. Teaching is awesome!!!:yeah:

So in essence...yeah...you talk too much...LOLOL

I'm just playing with you!!!!:redbeathe

BTW I am also having a great time reading you guys replies!!!! It is almost an escape of some sort. Keep them coming!!!!

This job has always appealed to me but whenever I go to inquire about a job in stocking at night, I get told they stock during the day or they don't hire stockers, regular day employees stock as an additional duty.

I'm going into HIM, not nursing, but if I could pick my fun, utterly impractical job, I'd read and evaluate submitted morificecripts for a publisher. I read voraciously anyway, so it would be nice to get paid for it!
