:redbeatheOkay MCC hopefuls, we are under the 45 day mark. Hopefully within 30 days we will at least have our ranking!!:redbeathe

42 days until letter day.....how are you feeling?

We have our Unit 2 test right after Spring Break also! I am in the 8am Tues/Thurs class. I will be studying my butt off this week!

Best of luck to you!!! I'll be dong the same studying this week... so much for a "break" LOL. :chuckle

Someone mentioned something about the average HESI score for this year:

There was a thread on here a few months ago where everyone on this site who took the HESI for fall 09 posted their "class" average.

One of the posters began to work on the math, and it appeared as though the HESI average was around the low 80's.

Unfortunately that doesn't mean anything though :( The lowest HESI that was accepted last year was something like 92. That wipes a lot of us out!

I was wondering about it. I did see that thread and it gave some good info. But you know I have to know what EVERYONE got. :chuckle I'm such a dork... I even tried to give my Dad (who's a statistician) the info for him to trend it. He advised me that I needed more concrete info (geeze what good is that!). So, I guess what I should get out of this is... we wont know until we get our letters. I haven't truly found any reliable info on the HESI scores for 2008. At the Nursing Seminar, I know what the average of the last 5 ppl accepted were, but that doesn't tell you the whole story. I think it was 3.68GPA ave and 94.2 HESI average. So, in all theory you can have someone with a 4.0 and low HESI and a person with a low GPA and an exceedingly good HESI.

My lab partner found info in what #121 person was as far as GPA and HESI for 2005, 2006, and 2007 in a pamphlet in the learning center (green pamphlet named "Selective Admissions"). In 2005, #121 was an 87 HESI and 3.7167 GPA, in 2006, #121 was 88 HESI and 3.7500 GPA. And in 2007, it was a 92 HESI and 3.9143 GPA. But no info for 2008, which would be good to know.

But all in all, this just runs us back in circles because really you don't know what 2009 applicants did. Again, adding to my intense insanity and anxiety! :p

Hey guys,

They say that patience is a virtue. "They" say lots of stuff, don't "they"?

Take care, Hoot

"They" need to stop saying stuff like that! :chuckle

This is some interesting info. Thank you for sharing! And lol about your Dad! :chuckle

Unfortunately, we just have to wait it out :(

30 days.........

Here's hoping for 2005 scores....lol.

Sad thing is waiting for the letter is the least stressfull thing in my life right now. So we think that they will be sending us our grade and hesi score they are using soon?

30 days! It seems like sooooo long, but it will fly by. Do they also send the averages for the year so that we know where we stand or is it just our personal info?

I got a laugh out of a South Park episode last night and thought I would share.

Cartman was waiting for the new Wii to come out in 3 weeks. You see him pacing in front of the store going "come onnnnnnnnnnn" and his mother is like "you have 3 weeks Eric! Be Patient" and he was like "Time is moving so slowly, its like time is stopping". Well he goes to school and Cartman just kept on asking every second "Is it time yet? No... What time is it now?". Finally he decides to freeze himself because the wait will seem instanteous. He get's "defrosted" 500 years later.

Anyway, I feel the same way about waiting for our letters! LOL. It made me laugh to think about it... and thought I would share to get you all laughing, hopefully to make the time "go by quicker". :chuckle

They just give you your own info.

Ha ha, that is pretty much what it feels like....lol.

Toxic Shock,

I could be wrong, but I think the 92 you are referring to is based on an avg. Wasn't it referring to the last 5 who made it into the program? What do you think??

Michy-Mich,

Great well-rounded info!! Thank you, and thank your dad also:) I hope this gives hope "back" to alot of future nurses:) They say the deepest need of the body is oxygen, but the deepest need of the soul is hope. One way or another ladies and gentlemen if this is what we really, really want we have to keep our hope properly placed.

Hope in your faith; or hope in yourself! Hope can carry us through this if the circumstances appear to shut us down. Keep the hope even if it gets cloudy; based on many of these posts it seems their are many excellent potential nurses in here. I enjoy reading your posts.

28 days.....

I will start freaking out after my finals are done....lol.

pbid,

no problemo on the data! My experience is that of an auditor, and well you know us... facts, facts, facts, investigate, investigate, find, know... LOL. I take a very weary approach to data, unless I know it's a fact or had time to disassemble the data and understand what it is truly "means". My Dad... I think he is ready for me to stop with the questions. LOL! I start asking my Dad more questions and it's like his kitchen walls become like a chalkboard and he starts talking "Well, I believe you should be within 6 sigma, that is 3 standard deviations from the average. But I can't tell you much more unless I have the 2009 figures".:chuckle

Pbid, you are SPOT ON with the message of "hope". I have never heard the saying "They say the deepest need of the body is oxygen, but the deepest need of the soul is hope." However, it is SO very true... One thing I have learned in the last (2) years is if you believe... you will achieve. Project yourself and visualize the person you want to become. I never really understood how powerful that was, until like I said (2) years ago.

It was very nice of you to say you see many great potential nurses here (yourself included).:redbeathe My philosophy is that we have to encourage and empower each other. We all have the same dream, and we all need to feel we did our best. This waiting is really a test... but like you said... we will all make our dreams come true if we keep the faith alive (with or without medications for anxiety! j/k!)

Shannonmarie.... LOL... I like count downs! Not only that, but the weather out here in Michigan is starting to warm up and now to top it off, I've got the spring fever! I can't wait to bust out my croc sandals!

Toxic Shock,

You could be right, I'm not really sure now that I think about it. I remember someone saying the lowest accepted HESI score was 92, but it was so long ago that I read that info, I could have misread it the first time. :banghead:

You're right, MichyMich, the weather has been hella nice lately! I hope it keeps up - I'm sick of cold weather and SNOW. When I'm not studying this summer, I will be pool side... or maybe a little both :onbch:
