Don't forget there are questions that "don't count" 75 questions is a better indicator of passing then 275!! I felt the same way you do right after I took it. I think that most people do (don't forgett that). Now try to do something nice for yourself and stop worrying about it. What's done is done and you probably passed!!!
I just took my NCLEX-RN today and had a total of 75 questions. This is the second time I have had to take it. I felt ok about it until I came home and started looking up some of the ones I missed. I had about 12-13 medications on there (some I knew, some I did not) and then the rest were really random. The first time I took the test I had all 265 questions. I have heard of it going both ways. People failing at both. Has anybody out there been it this particular situation?? 265 the first go 'round then 75 the next??? I feel like throwing up!!
Hang in there !
Everyone walks out feeling like a dunce. The reason is that the program adjusts the difficulty of your next question based on whether or not you got the last one right. You go up and down in difficulty level until you are missing 50%.
What determines passing is the level of difficulty at which you reach that 50% failure rate. If your level is 8 on a scale of 1-10, you would pass. If it's only 3 or four, you would not pass. But, complexity notwithstanding, both candidates would have missed about the same number of questions.
The point is that EVERYONE leaves the testing site having missed many of their final questions. Demoralizing, but true. Hope knowing this helps with the waiting.
I wish you the best. Do let us know how you did.
Way back when I took the NCLEX (1989) we had to wait about 8-10 WEEKS before we got our results in the mail. It's so nice that you can find out so quickly now and everything is computerized! We had a timer that went off for each section of the test...it was 2 days long, too...absolutely awful.
So, I have no idea if you passed from what you described...but i sure hope you did!!
Good luck!
