  1. I am fairly new to travel nursing. The only travel assignment I have done so far was the one-day strike in Minnesota. I have talked with several companies, which all were 'great it will be no problem finding you something!!' HA!!! I am licensed in a few states, including California..which I would love to go!! I do not care about the 'sight-seeing' and really just want to work!! I have been turned down a few times because 'I didn't have enough travel experience.' I don't want to talk to any other companies. I have talked with Talemed, Nurses Choice, American Mobile, Clinical One and Medical Solutions and feel like my reference check is beginning to get on my co-workers nerves!! I know what I want in a travel contract, and I currently have 4+ years in a Women's and Children's float RN which means I do everything from Neonatal, PICU, Peds, PedsER, PP and well-baby nursery. What do I do??? Are other's out there having this problem??? I just want to cry.
  2. Some of the teachers (Lee, Roark, Hollawy) get just some of the questions word for word questions from those stupid end of the chapter questions out of your Saunders, so it would be a good idea to review that. LOVE THAT SAUNDERS BOOK...used it for NCLEX..helped BIG TIME. Also, Lippencott, Kaplan and that's it..don't waste your time on any other crap out there to study for the NCLEX...when you get ready for that. CHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL :penguin: have a  and quit . You don't have to be a :studyowl:, just look over it about an hour a day, and that's IF you have time. DO YOUR NOTES!!! :typing I CANNOT EXPRESS THAT ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck future RN's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. just wanted everyone to know that i passsseeeedddddd!!!! found out yesterday morning, i guess 265 the first time then 75 questions the next....you never know...good grief, so glad i don't have to take that thang again!!!!! :lol_hitti
  4. Hello again..let me tell you all to calm down I can tell you this b/c I have been there. I loved both the 'Lee' sisters, except D Lee teaching styles are, 'what have ya.' Ms. Roark is super cool and laid back..if you get her for clinicals your doing good. She will give you EVERYTHING you need to know for testing purposes. Hope and pray that Mr. King DOES NOT teach the diabetes lecture to ya'll. It will leave you more confused than when you walked in. He will tell you what will be 'smart' to know for testing. Ms. Cobbs can be a 'you know what' but she's a pretty good clinical instructor. When I went through my freshman year, it was her first time. SO, i think she may be a little more laid back. When she teaches she follows the notes, page by page. I can't remember his name right now, but he's a NP and teached ABG's..he's got glasses..reddish hair..he is smart, a great clinical instructor, but cannot teach class to save his life. I never could figure him out. Ms Lawless is awesome, she will help you out a lot in clinicals. Test purposes, you have to pay attention very closely for her hints!!! I never did have any much liking for Ms Peek. She will say she is there for you..but watch out!!! Checkoffs are a joke. They could barely manage the 125 we had in our class (at that time WE were the biggest) if you can't do them they will send you to the back of the line until you can do them..it's that simple. STUDY YOUR NOTES. If they tell you to study something 'particular' in the book, then do...but don't waste your time. Read over it..that would be the smart thing to do, but take good notes, go to CLASS, and pay attention. Find a GOOD STUDY GROUP. That will be your backbone. :welcome:
  5. CELEBRATION TIME TO YOU IN CA....:balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons:..KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED FO ME..I FIND OUT 2MORROW MORNING FOR MINE.:stone
  6. I just took my NCLEX-RN yesterday and had a total of 75 questions. This is the second time I have had to take it. I felt ok :nuke:about it until I came home and started looking up some of the ones I missed. I had about 12-13 medications on there (some I knew, some I did not) and then the rest were really random. I had about 5-6 selet all of the apply crap, 5-6 prioritizing...The first time I took the test I had all 265 questions. I have heard of it going both ways. People failing at both. Had a friend of mine who took basically the same test..kinda...with just 75 questions and she failed the first time and then passed the second time with 265 questions. :eek:Has anybody out there been it this particular situation?? 265 the first go 'round then 75 the next??? I feel like throwing up!!
  7. Let me give you al a little FYI...I just graduated from Calhoun RN program last May. Do not take the Red Cross CPR, it's crap. It will get you nowhere when you get to work for the real hospitals. Also..all these test..pay attention, do not try and slide by..the NCLEX will kick your butt if you do. Pay attention to your lab values..you will keep them forever, since everything evolves around those. You will cram and dump at this moment in your life, it is normal. But try and keep as much knowledge as possible. Good luck, students..going for my Masters..
  8. I will know August 31st at 8 am CST...we down here in Alabama get to test with Peason vue.
