  1. do you have updates about the recapturing of 61,000 unused visas for 1996 & 1997? here is a text from an immigration update..... nurses: proposed law would "recapture" 61,000 green cards on the evening of october 23, during the debate on the departments of labor, health and human services, and education, and related agencies appropriations act of 2008 (h.r. 3043), two significant immigration-related amendments relating to nurses and physical therapists were passed by voice vote. the primary amendment (h.amdt. 3404) was introduced by senators charles schumer (d-ny) and kay bailey hutchison (r-tx) to increase the domestic supply of nurses and physical therapists by recapturing approximately 61,000 unused green cards from the years 1996 and 1997. before the schumer- hutchison amendment was passed, it was amended by senator durbin's (d-ill) second-degree amendment (h.amdt. 3449) which attempts to increase the number of nursing faculty and students in the united states, encourages global health care cooperation, and creates a $1,500 training fee for a recaptured green card from the underlying amendment. some health care providers, such as those in health professional shortage areas (hpsas) will be exempt from this training fee. the durbin amendment also requires that the healthcare worker attest that he or she has satisfied any outstanding commitment to work in his or her home country. the senate voted 75-19 to approve the bill.
  2. yes in ca. thanks for the advice!
  3. Goodluck! i think you passed!..
  4. my sister-in-law is in the us now under a tourist visa. she just passed the local board exam in the philippines. she will apply for the nclex anytime now and wishes to apply also for an interim permit. the question is,does she need to have the ielts before applying? is ielts really a requirement for rns from the philippines before getting an interim permit?of course we know that it is really needed for the visa screen but should she have passed the ielts first before she can apply for an interim permit?
  5. What if you are a BSN graduate form outside the US, you have a tourist visa and you went to the US. You did not pass the NCLEX RN so you were just planning to take the NCLEX PN.Can you be petitioned as an LPN for the H1 category and apply for adjustment of status?Specifically in California?
  6. What if for example you finished BSN fron outside the US and you have a tourist visa and you go the US, you did not pass NCLEX RN so you were just planning to take the NCLEX PN. Can you be petitioned by being an LPN?Specifically an LVN in California? Can you apply for the H1B?and change status by using your LPN license?
  7. congratulations!
  8. congratulations!
  9. i also stopped at 75 and i really cried after because from what i've heard, if your questions are hard and long that's a good sign..mine were so short..many questions about meds..some meds were just my first time to see..my last question was even shorter...but i passed...so, you will never know. yes..keep the faith...it will be God's will! goodluck..
  10. or just to save time for you to catch up with your ielts date of expiration, how about submitting your application for nclex now? i believe you can apply without your local rn yet, right?(like in california) so that after you take and pass your local rn and if you had your Eligibility earlier, you can register with pearsonvue right away and sched your nclex exam. if you are really that decided and in a hurry, you can also apply for the visascreen now so you can submit your other requirements and those that will come from your schools...will this help?..you know..just to save time...
  11. >yes, you need to have an over all band score of 6.5 and a 7.0 in Speaking. My visa screen came after around 2 months. retrogression does not affect the process of the visascreen.
