I agree!! What you said was EXACTLY what helped me pass my boards the 2nd time. The infection control site you put up also helped me pass the boards...in fact, the infection control site was why I passed the boards! (and Q-bank) Congrats on passing the boards!

i passed!!!! :balloons: i checked on my board of nursing (mn), and my results were up the next day (and for free!!)... this exam i found much easier....looking back, i had alot of general questions (like positioning, etc!)...i was pessimistic, cause my first nclex i took was much harder, and has alot more priority questions on it....really! weird, huh! i'm just soooooooooo happy i passed, guys! thank you so much for your kind words!! p.s. this time i studied w/ kaplan online--and their questions were very similar to my 2nd exam! praise god!

Took the nclex-rn today (I'm a 2nd time nclex-rn taker, & the first time got to 225 questions--this time around, I was much better prepared--I think!) I dunno what to think..this test was a little of everything. I read on here about high level questions, so I am baffled. It shut off at 75, and I got a few general questions(w/labs), peds, ob (in the beginning), then meds, about 6 check all that apply, pick the priority, delegation, infection control, and teaching. No math, tho. Honestly, what is making me nervous, is my last test I did not have any meds...this time I did (I'd say around 7-8?), and my last question before it shut off was a med one (which I got right, not that it matters or anything). Is meds lower level? Anyone pass with these kind of questions? Ugh, I am just so nervous to check my results this time in a few days!

Glad you took yours today! I'm right behind ya...mine is on Wed. I wish I were you and it was over...I hate these butterflies in my stomache I am feeling! You and me are both 2nd time test takers..did you find the 2nd time exam very different from the 1st time? In your opinion, was it "easier" (i.e. more familiar), "harder", or just "different"? I hope you passed...let us know. I am sure you did.

I failed the 1st time, and am taking it again next week. I knew content, but did not know how to critically think the depth I was suppose to for nclex. Did you get back the print out of the test results from your BON? Well, it says to either reinforce more content (on the topics you got "below the passing leve"l on)......or that you know the content but need to work on critical thinking (if you were "near passing" on the majority). I dunno if it is just my state that narrows it down, or if all BON'S do that, but it really helped me. They were right...when i started kaplan this time around, my "content only" tests were all great scores, but my "application and analysis" levels were poor. Now that I brushed up on my critical thinking skills, my scores are up. Well, i guess I will see next week when I retest if what I am saying is true! LOL!

I got all A-B's, and I knew my content walking into my first NCLEX. What failed me (and what the enemy is, in my opinion) is the level of critical thinking. This test is nothing like nursing school tests, in my opinion, which is all based on content. Don't go in thinking if you know the content, you will be OK. With the NCLEX, you have to break down piece by piece (and sometimes 5 or 6 pieces!) of information they give you in the question to get to the answer. Another poster on here wrote regarding priority questions, that they come in different kinds of difficulty levels. I also saw that on my NCLEX a few months ago some priority ?'s that were on the easier level (these are just examples, guys)... like would you see first?--a pt who couldn't breath vs the other pt's w/ stabilized fractures)....or harder priority questions (just an example again!)--like which pt would you discharge first (all pt's were on their death beds in critical care with very similar problems) Now those are the ones that threw me off! So yes, like the other poster said, there are definitely different levels of priority and triage questions.

I haven't read the rest of this thread, but in response to this one I am quoting, I got up to 245, and most of my ?'s were priority and delegation. I had no math, no meds, no labs, and a few infection control. That's it. Mostly all priority and deleg. I failed. My test print out from the BON said I came "near passing with all levels" ...Go figure. Hopefeully I'll have better luck retesting next week.

I'm suppose to take the nclex mid next week. I failed the 1st time early June (test result print out stated I was " near passing" with the levels, seemed to know my content, but lacked critical thinking skills?). I started Kaplan Complete right after I failed, and started out with scores in the mid 50's. Well, I am still in the mid-high 50's (a few in the 60's). I have done all the q-bank ?'s and everything else (except test#7), and have been going over all the answers. But since my scores are pretty much the same as when I started Kaplan, is this something to be concerned about? I'm just wondering if I should re-schedule my exam or not. Thanks, guys.

I failed. Like I said in my other posts, I got to 220 and had mostly priority questions....soooo, I held out hope because of the types of ?'s I got. Wrong. ( Sunday I was pretty bummed when I found out, but I'm feeling ok about it now. To be honest with you, this was a lesson learned for me. Alot of my classmates took the kaplan course, reviewed the practice questions like mad, and took their studying very seriously. Overall, they seemed much better prepared(I heard they passed, too). I think I had this illusion that when I graduated, I assumed I would automatically pass the nclex. Wrong again. I embarassingly admit that I did not give it my all in studying for the nclex. I only went over a few study questions (maximum 50), and reviewed the Saunders Comp book only a few hours here and there. I felt like I knew the general content from school, but that's about it. I very much lacked on practicing the questions & learning from those. The lesson learned for me is to never feel over confident. I always got good grades in nursing school, and did not understand that the nclex would be so different from the exams we used to take. Wrong once again! So this time I have a different plan. I have 45 days until retake, and will take this time around very seriously. I have learned SO much from you all on this board and reading the posts, and wish I would have came here before I sat for the boards. I feel so stupid that I did not realize how important studying for the nclex was, and how important being prepared is. It doesn't stop at graduation, doesn't it! Thanks for your support while I was waiting, tho..I really appreciate it! Do you know what the nclex 2nd time pass rate is? At the end of our last semester, Kaplan came in to talk to us, and I remember them saying something in the 50-58% area with the 2nd timer's passing rate. Is that correct? If so, then i'm scared to death.

Ok, it is 4:43 AM, yes, folks......AM, and I'm still clicking on the pearson vue site to see if my exam results are up....but the site has been down for the last 4 hours...hey! Mabey they are updating the new test results! (it will be 48 hours tomorrow morning since I took the exam)...... One question for any of you....does the Pearson Vue staff know your test results immediately when your computer shuts off? Two of the staff members were sitting in another room with a few computers on. Just wondering. Ok, better get a few hours sleep. GEEZ, I never knew this waiting for the NCLEX results would be so painful!

thanks, guys. You have helped alot. I have been feeling sick all day. I think what is killing me the most---is I noticed my last question I got wrong. (yes, i remembered it! LOL)... Could I ask you a question? What makes the exam keep asking you the same type of questions over and over? Someone said thru the grapevine that if you do bad at a topic, you keep getting it back. Is that a myth?Because I got the majority on prioritize. Was it because I was doing bad on them, or good?

I'm a lurker coming out, hello everyone! I took my nclex yesterday. I am feeling so depressed when I woke up this morning. I feel like I did not pass. I know alot of people feel like me, right? I just felt like half the questions I guessed (tried to use the abc's, etc, tho!) I had 210 questions, most of my whole exam was on prioritize questions, a few on infection control, and a few on peds that were quite over my head. I also had a few management type questions...like which pt would I put this psych nurse with, etc. I do remember all the prioritzing questions, which made up 75% of my exam, tho. I did not have 1 math, no medication, just 2 labs, and nothing else. Yet a few of my friends that took it got 40 quest. on meds. So why did I get mostly prioritizing qust, and some infection control? Think I have even a slight chance to pass? Thanks for listening, everyone.
