I am embarrassed to say that last night my brother overdosed on cocaine, ambien, quinapril, and alcohol. Before the EMT's arrived he stopped breathing. I performed CPR on my brother and I was able to revive him. I had to share my story because I am proud of myself and not that I ever doubted my desire to be a nurse but now I know that me being a nurse is meant to be.
I hope he appreciates me saving his life.

how wonderful for you to save your brothers life! that had to have been a very scary situation to find yourself in. you will be a great nurse!
[color=#483d8b]i think if he doesn't appreciate you saving his life now, he will appreciate it eventually. perhaps knowing you care enough about him to save his life will help him.
[color=#483d8b]i hope he can receive the help he needs for whatever is hurting him so deeply. i will keep you, your brother and family in my thoughts and prayers.

I am sorry that you had to witness something so tragic, but be proud of your accomplishment, you are to be commmended.
I pray that your brother will get the help that he needs and make a recovery. Perhaps he will someday be the person that saves another from making his mistake.
Good luck and God Bless.
OP my heart goes out to you. You were torn in two completely different directions. As a family member you were scared and angry, and as a provider your adrenaline was pumping and you were forced to push those feelings aside to save his life. Very difficult position and you did an amazing job to jump right in. I hope your brother is okay, and that YOU are okay. I hope he gets the help he needs so you and your family can begin healing.
