(So glad I stumbled across this website again after almost 6 years! I need to change my username because I am not an aspiring nurse anymore, I have been a nurse for almost 3 years! ?)
Anyway, I really do not want to take this new covid vaccine. I know I can’t be the only one who feels this way. Typically I am not an anti-vaxxer but something about this illness is making me think otherwise. For personal reasons I really do not want to take it when available at my hospital, but I’m afraid it will be mandatory. I am almost considering finding a new job if my hospital forces us all to take it. What a shame because I do like my job and wouldn’t know what else to turn to that isn’t nursing, because chances are most healthcare related places of employment will likely require all employees take it.
I want to use the excuse of it being against my religion but I already took the flu vaccine this year. I have nothing against the flu vaccine but didn’t necessarily want it, but my hospital practically FORCED everyone to take it unless they grant you an exemption. I’m afraid they’ll question me why I took the flu shot but cannot take the covid vaccine.
What do you guys think about this? Will you be taking the vaccine? I just want us to be able to make our own decisions about this. If patients can refuse medications, procedures, and treatments, why can’t healthcare workers do the same? I read in multiple articles it will not be required by the federal government but each state and employer can decide whether or not it will be mandatory.
And forget the $1500 “stimulus check” that may be offered if you take it. All the money in the world would not change my mind about taking the vaccine. I feel as though if you have to bribe people to take it, something is peculiar.
I don’t know why this is bothering me so much. It should be a choice in my opinion. But by telling a few friends about not wanting it I feel judged. I have worked with covid patients multiple times since I am one of the younger nurses who does not have any kids/am pregnant. I feel like week after week I was always chosen to go to the covid section. At first I was mad but now it doesn’t bother me. I am not afraid to be near covid patients. Luckily through all this time I haven’t caught it. I always tell people I’d rather catch it than get this vaccine. That’s how strongly I feel against taking the vaccine. All of my non-nursing who have had covid are covered and thriving. To me catching it isn’t the biggest deal but others have called me selfish because I could be spreading it to others. Why is it looked at as selfish for not wanting to inject something into MY body. #mybodymychoice
Am I thinking about this too much? What would you do?

a. Declined to take the vaccination. What was their Covid-19 infection, morbidity, and mortality rate along with all cause morbidity and infection rate over the say the next year or two.
b. This group accepted the vaccination but were unable to get the second shot due to supply issues (or did not get it on time).
c. This group received both shots in the specified time frames from the same manufacturer.
d. This group would have received the first shot from one pharmacy company, say Pfizer, but the second dose comes from a different company say AstraZenica.
Such a relatively simple study would provide valuable data, but is anyone currently doing it?
All of the data is analyzed in real time as possible and analysis will continue for quite some time after this pandemic is mitigated. It is generally accepted that covid related deaths are under counted. There will be post pandemic investigations and hearings to determine the scope and depth of the malfeasance, corruption and incompetence of the federal management of the response. Let's hope that intentional abuse and confusion of vaccination ideals isn't one of the findings.

QuoteThe site has been criticised for spreading conspiracy theories, especially relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. Christoph Neuberger, a professor at the Free University of Berlin, stated that while the SPR website attempts to present its message as objective and neutral, it is clearly political, and its content is pseudoscientific ("pseudowissenschaftlich").[2] The site has been categorized as a propaganda tool.[4] Due to the persistent use of the German letter ß, which is not commonly used in Switzerland, it has been suspected that the creator is not from Switzerland, contrary to what the website title suggests.[5]
Long term health effects of the covid vaccination should be the least of your worries if you're a lover of true freedom.... the main issue is really about how many microchips Bill Gates put in it and how to get your tinfoil hat to fit so They can't track you. Because obviously all of those who have made their entire career, their entire lives as specialists in the medical and biological sciences worldwide have come together to dupe us all into buying this vaccination from them for this covid hoax. Too bad all those doctors won't get any more money for covid deaths though. I hope they don't make the vaccination mandatory- it has worked out so well for parents who didn't want to vaccinate their kids from the measles.
It's only 350,000 deaths in the US at this point. What, me worry?
(I really hope everyone detects the sarcasm- but just in case...)

I am talking about controlled, cohort studies of those taking the vaccines under different circumstances. I am not aware of a single ongoing study that examines these issues. It could be quite useful. For example if the data indicated that one dose was 85% percent as effective as two, but there was a large deficit of vaccine making second doses unrealistic then the emerging UK approach of only giving one dose might make a great deal of sense. Conversely, if a single dose was showing a protection rate much, much lower, it might actually raise concerns of encouraging more virulent mutations (such as the one that may have emerged in the UK.). Outside of prospective cohort studies the answers to these questions will remain speculative and obscure.

I also saw articles encouraging people to get their second shot in a timely manner and mentioning that not getting your second dose in a timely manner could encourage more virulent mutations if you do not to get your second dose. Can anyone explain how? I don’t understand why that is a risk
here is one of the articles from a local news station not scholarly but have seen this statement in multiple places and curious for someone to break it down and explain

I was talking more about the proposed UK policy https://www.businessinsider.com/blair-one-covid-19-vaccine-shot-experts-said-no-?op=1 . I believe that the argument that only getting one shot could lead to viral resistance is largely theoretical. The analogy would be taking an antimicrobial that only kills say 90% of the bacteria when taken incompletely. rather than 99.9 when taken as prescribed. With a vaccine it is possible that getting a "less" robust immune response from one vaccine shot rather than a more complete response when taken as advised might contribute to issues. It is conceivable that such as situation were it replicated across enough people might lead to the emergence of Covid strains with mutations that allowed them to better resist the immune adaptations induced by the vaccination.
Historically there has always been some who didn't want to take a new vaccine in the last 100 years. Jonas Salk came home and gave it to his three young sons when it was first available in the 1950s. Pretty gutsy for a father to put his son's lives on the line. In reality, the risk of getting polio was so much greater resulting in an estimated complete or partial paralysis of over 10 - 20 million world wide. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_polio
We have heard of the "anti-vaxxers" who oppose child vaccinations and seen the misinformation associated with their point of view. We tell everyone to get a flu shot every year. Pneumovax if you are over 65. All of these at one time had someone saying they would wait and the death rate was never as high as we are seeing with COVID in a year's time.
Today, people struggle with getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Were you aware that RNA vaccine research has been going on for the last 18 years? That is one reason that this vaccine was developed so quickly. Instead of testing prior to getting government approval and then manufacturing the vaccine, both were done simultaneously. A financially gutsy move if it wasn't effective in the trials. Given the low frequency of severe reactions and the high probability that if you work in health care you could be exposed, not getting the vaccine when it is available can be likened to playing Russian Roulette. You may be one of the lucky one that have a mild form of the virus and recover. OR you may not be so lucky and be in ICU, vent, die if you don't do that at home. OR you may have long lasting and life changing side effects that limit working in health care. Since the vaccine as of yet has shown post vaccine symptoms of those without a history of severe allergies to be relatively rare; to be mild, lasting 1-2 days for most; I would think to an educated mind the choice would be obvious. Take the vaccine! https://www.CDC.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/safety/allergic-reaction.html
It is likely most base their decision to get or not get is fear of the unknown. Throughout our relatively brief history with vaccines, like Salk, we had to make a decision of faith in science. We don't know everything about this disease, the mutations, how long the vaccine will last, but the vaccine is more likely to help rather than hurt. We gamble on mass vaccinations just like they did in the 1950s with polio.
For those who failed to wear masks; decided to attend super-spreader events; didn't stay away from family/friends; followed the false narratives rather than science; and decide not to get the vaccine and become ill, why would you expect healthcare staff to take care of you? Vaccines are meant to be an attempt to save lives in this country and around the world...either you are part of the solution...or you're not!
You are so Naive. Study your History of vaccines . Not everyone who doesn't agree with the Current vaccines are anti vacxers. True they have been experimenting with mRNA drugs/vacs. Also you will find particular with Pfzier vac, have not been tested on mice as protocol. Their last experiments with mRNA the mice died. 6 people died in their Clinical trials also. Never tested in animals and on the frail elderly. Study the history a little more. Esp. Gates involvement in Vaccination, and the horrors to unsuspecting African /Indian poor. Trust the Government? Tell that to the WWl troops in Louisiana, infected with bacterial meningitis via vaccination. And on. Do you know your history or you need to fact check via Google? Sad.
Asymptomatic people were found to have near zero virility of virus to be contagious. Testing is faulty. I wish I could link you to the Science, not the Pseudo Science but ,not going to waste my time. It's out there. Science is not exact, that's why there are peer reviews and expert debates which aren't any with this current narrative Stay safe.

If you had actual evidence for the claims you make you would post it. ”It’s out there” doesn’t cut it. You wish you could... but you’re not going to waste your time... Right.

Care to expand on what you think Gates’ involvement is?

STOP SPREADING DISINFORMATION!
There’s been an influx of new posters like yourself in the recent weeks and months whose only goal seems to be to scare people off from taking a Covid vaccine. What is your agenda?
The Pfizer vaccine was tested on mice and rhesus macaques.
The Pfizer study enrolled 43,448 participants. During the time period April 29 to November 14 (cutoff date) six out of the 43,448 died.
Two of the deaths was in the vaccine arm of the trial and four deaths were in the PLACEBO arm of the trial. (The two arms of the trial were very close to equal in size).
The deaths are events like for example myocardial infarctions and strokes that occur in the general population at a similar rate. Five of the six deaths occurred in the age group >55.
If you follow any random group of 40,000+ individuals with mixed ages for six and a half months you will in all likelihood have deaths in that group.
