OMG - in the last 3 days I've gotten my Fundamentals book, my Med Surge book, Tabers Cyclopedia, and my Davis drug book - ho-lee-crap!!!
I don't think my LL Bean book pack was designed for this!!

LOL - I feel you.
I just got my books and I have 9 of them. (Concepts Vol. 1 and 2, workbook, tabers, nurses pocket guide, medical dictionary, lab values, and 2 others I can't remember)
I too have an LL Bean bookbag that I love!
My advice to you is the advice I took off another thread on here: Get your thick textbook(s) debound and hole punched and put them in large 3-ring binder. Then just take out the chapters needed for that lecture/exam and carry those with you in a separate, smaller binder. That will save you a good 10 pounds easy.
for what its worth,

I have decided on the multi-pack method. I have a copy paper box (the library), a ZUCA and a backpack. These are all kept in my truck. All books are kept in the library. If I need multiple books for class/studying I will transport in the ZUCA. If I need one or two and a notebook, I'll use the backpack. They all end up in the truck and I can pick and choose what I need and when but at least they are always around.
I have probably over-thought the entire thing but it works for me and saves my back! I have heard of people de-binding their books but I am keeping mine intact - easier to put in the bookshelf later.

I do not take my books to class. I don't know anyone that does!

More than likely you won't be carrying all of your books at one time. I have used my "medical dictionary" maybe once, and that was at home. Google is a lot faster!!

Wow! Our school requires us to bring all our books everyday of lecture. That must be nice and easy on the back! :)
