Ok. Who is in the mood for a good mood thread? I am.
Finally, after two plus years of working nights and hating EVERY SECOND of it, I landed a job with daylight hours. I just have to do two nights a month to satisfy the "off shift" quota.
I'll start the new position next month, after I finish the posted schedule.
Finally, off nights. I could just go outside and dance in the snow with nothing but my socks on right now.
I get to sleep when the moon is up and the stars are out. It'll be dark and cool and I will sleep like a baby. I'll be a normal person again...........well.......as normal as someone who dances in the snow in their birthday suit can be anyway.

Um. . .Am I supposed to congratulate you? Well, congratulations! :)
Even though night shift is bad for the health, I'm a die-hard lover of nights. Few, if any, families to deal with. Few, if any, managers to see. Few, if any, doctors rounding and writing a million new orders. Patients will be trying to catch up on their sleep on a good night.
However, I understand your need for daylight hours. There's something awesome about awakening in the morning with the rest of the country, falling asleep at the same time as most of society, and working when most people are at work. Day shift can bestow a sense of normalcy upon a person.

I agree with Commuter. Die-hard night shift person here. But I can understand your elation. Congrats on getting a good work situation for yourself.

I am so not a night person. I'll work every weekend if I have to to avoid working overnights.

I felt the same way when I went from PMs (3-11) to days (7-3), and then again when I got a M-F 8:30-5 job. Congratulations!

So glad to hear it Erik. Don't know what the boys (eh, hem - cats) will do with you at home sleeping at night.
Sheesh, what a long time of waiting just to change jobs with all your experience. Nursing better change, and change soon before we all go nuts.
