I got reprimanded at work for not using a bra !

Published

Something happened to me at Wednesday that i thought i would never hear.

I was told by my team leader that bouncing breasts are very inappropriate in the workplace.

There had been several complains on me for a long time (she claims).

And that i from now on, always had to use a bra.

Was she right to correct me like that, should i complain on her ?

I'm completely in awe of how popular this thread is!

I have two words of advice for the OP. Breast reduction.

I was no where near a 40 DD or DDD, but what I was was too much. I had constant neck and shoulder pain. I also had a sneaking suspicion that my insurance company's formula wasn't going to work for me, so I started saving my loose change and when I got close to having the money, I had it done.

One of the best two or three decisions I ever made for myself. I would never consider going braless at work of course, regardless of size, but I can go with or without now and have no pain.

i think the o/p has gotten the results she wanted out of this post. can we just let it go now !

I thought i would give a last feedback to this thread, and also point out a few things. I am using a loose scrub top yes, but i also have a smaller t-shirt inside. For the record i was wearing a bra most of the time, i just needed a day of once or twice a week. I thought it wasn't a big deal, it was. I have talked with my manager, and she was right in correcting me. She had overheard talk among patients and visitors.:bluecry1:

She had also tried to give me hints before, that's why she felt she had to be so direct. The good thing is that, i have bought some very good bras. I think the main problem was that i always bought a bra in a hurry. I didn't want to annoy the stores by spending a long time trying.

Thanks for the all the well meant tips about mammaplasty. However i have a strong back, never had a back problem. My mother who is about my size has never had a back problem.

OK i have a new bra and it feels great. It gives me great support and keep things from moving most of the time. There are some jiggle when i walk down stairs or lean over, i hope they can live with it !? :uhoh21:

Ok, I know that this horse has been beaten far too long. However, I was treated for breast cancer two years ago and did fine through the surgery recovery but after chemo did 33 treatment days of radiation.

I don't know how many of you have ever seen radiation burns but think bad, weeping burn. I spent about 8 weeks with open areas - paper tape, telfa, and double t-shirts under a scrub top.

My manager knew all of this but very few others did. I did not electively go without it was just the way it was. I did have several semi-lewd comments from coworkers and even a patient or two.

I realize that my situation is very different from the O/P; however, just because you see a woman w/o a bra does not mean she is just trying to let it all hang out.

JMHO.

For all of us with severe BB...I am a 42G...Try a Posture bra. It fastens in the front and the back is a bracing structure that eliminates back and shoulder pain. I discovered them while recovering from a separated shoulder last winter.

Also, OMG I haven't laughed this much in weeks! Thanks all, especially you guys.:lol2::lol2::lol2::bow:

Part of wearing a bra is for support AND protection of the breasts and nipples.

Yeah, that's what people say. And I'm sure it's true for some. I even think I've had nipple burn on one or two occasions. But the main reason, IMHO, is that American culture sexualizes the human body to a ridiculous degree. It's a body. Parts is parts. And most of the time, we use those parts for things other than having sex.

I thought the reasoning behind a bra was to add one more layer for us to have to contend with. I know when I was 12 those little claspy things were the only thing slowing me down on more than 1 occasion.

I sense some very deep bragging here.

You are so right. It is just a body. No need to be modest, you women ought to go back to bra burning! Uhm, woman power? I forget what the chant was, do that thing, and don't be afraid to be proud of your body. Guys love strong women, who are not afraid to show their bodies off. Because it is a freedom thing. Not at all sexualized.

Thanks for the chuckles.

I wear a bra, a tank, a scrub top and a scrub jacket.

But I work in corrections. :D

I think women refusing to wear a bra has to do with the following:

1. The individual is a closet exhibitionist.

2. They seek attention...the wrong kind.

3. They weren't taught any better.

4. They have deficient knowledge of what is considered professional.

I can only think of three types of "jobs" where you wouldn't wear a bra.

1. Lifeguard

2. Stripper

3. Prostitute

I would want to crawl under a rock, if my supervisor actually had to go as far as to tell me to wear a bra...

Sorry if this post offends anyone...but seriously...do you HAVE to be told?

Next thing we'll have is a male nurse/doctor who insists on going commando with white pants every day.
