I Got Head Lice

It happened. The one thing I never thought I would get as a school nurse....I thought "no way it would ever happen to me, I'm way to careful". I was itching for 4 days straight, but I thought "Oh, it's probably that new shampoo I bought....". I was WAY wrong.

I had to apply 3 treatments over a span of 3 weeks to totally get rid of it. I also passed it to my poor husband and he needed 2 treatments. We treated our house of course, our cars, carpets, couches, etc. Several times. I must say, I never knew the extent of how tedious it is to get rid of until having it myself. I didn't have just 1, I had 9 adult sized lice in my hair the 1st day I did my treatment. I cried like a big baby and was mortified, not to mention I found out at work because one fell out of my head onto my papers I was writing on. I had to leave work to have my aunt apply the medicine. They allow students to stay in school with lice in my district, but there was no way I could work knowing my head was infested. So my aunt did my treatment because I didn't want to risk missing anything. I still had nymphs on my 2nd treatment, most likely because she missed a few nits. By the 3rd one, my scalp burned from the medicine and it burned my skin like crazy when I washed it off in the shower. A lot of my hair has fallen out, and still falling out now. It's thinned pretty bad. I still have dreams that I find lice in my hair. I still itch, here and there. I have a friend at work check my hair weekly. Ugh the horror.....

I can deal with this. But have you read the books? If not, it's over between us!

I've tried to read the books...does that count? ;)

And being the only girl in my house except the dog and 1 of my cats, I have watched every episode of Family Guy.

The man I dated prior to my husband was obsessed with Family Guy. We watched it. All. The. Time. I was Family Guy-ed out.

Oh yea....definitely...as long as it keeps mom happy. I don't care what the movie is as long as I stay out of the dog house. I took her to see Brokeback Mountain, some others I never knew the name of in the first place, and the most recent Fifty Shades of Gray. I regularly invest time in watching Gray's Anatomy, The Good Wife, Mike and Molly, and of course my favorite, DANCE MOMS!

Husband of the year!!!

I am a LoTR geek, Star Wars geek (only episiodes 4-6, I am looking forward to Episiode 7) Star Trek geek, but only OLD Star Trek, with Captain Kirk, Harry Potter geek, Game of Thrones geek...

I am a geek.

My boyfriend is a HUGE Star Wars fan and I told him I'd watch it with him when he watched Grey's Anatomy with me. He stopped pushing it ;)

I am a fan of both. Probably more of a Star Wars and the original Star Trek fan from my childhood days.

I loved reading all the "Hobbit" books as a kid and my son is a fan so I see the movies with him.

He loves Avengers so I watch with him.

The Good Wife (just me)..... Forever (canceled:no: ), Castle, Rizzoli and Isles, Perception all watched by my son and I because we love mysteries. Husband usually leaves and get on my computer to look at my FB.

Family Guy and Fifty Shades :scrying: I accidentally saw one with the mom and the dog getting it on . . .. :yuck:

This is one of the reasons I enjoy working with mostly women so much. It's kinda interesting how we arrived here from, "I got head lice."

I was thinking the same thing! "Wow, somehow we got from head lice to cartoon dogs having sex with cartoon women."

Thankfully the mods didn't admonish us all to stay on topic and start deleting posts! See the epic discussions that get lost with that? :p

Can you tell me how lice and bestiality are NOT related?

....didn't think so.

Well, let me see . . . . we only get lice from other humans? We don't share them with animals or vice versa?

So, that cartoon lady is safe.

Disgusting, but safe.

I haven't seen Star Wars either, which some people seem to take personal offense to.

I am one of those people. I used to like you, kidzcare, but now? I just don't know... ;)

I am a proud geek too.

Star Wars, episodes 4-6. Star Trek, the original and TNG. I like super heroes. Batman is probably my favorite. I dig the villains, too. Not a Family Guy fan, but I do like the "Mom. Mom. Mommy. Mom. MOM. MOMMY. LOIS!!" clip, and I like to quote that at my kids when they say my name too many times.

LOTR- never got into that although I did like the movies. Legolas is dreamy.

I would go see The Avengers AND Pitch Perfect 2 in the same day!! :D
