First, let me say thank you to everyone who has been there for me through this ordeal; your support has been price-
less.
I have decided to GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!
I can't take another 8-9 pages of articles to read, summarize and 'discuss' in
addition to the reports, group reports, 5-6 chapters to try to make sense of
for each test, the charts, etc and still try to at least read and understand my APII chapters.
The class I'm referring to is micro, which is being taught at the scientist level.
I have cried, worked, studied, cried, vented, reached out for the instructor's
help, All to no avail.
I'm just not willing to sacrifice my sanity, my life, nor my GPA for this insanity.
I am already a LVN; I guess I just have to be happy with that.
Sorry this happened but I don't think I'd stay in the course either. 5-6 chapter assignments plus papers sound a bit too much for me. For my A&P and Chem classes we basically did two chapters then exam. So a lot of exams per semester but imo it makes the workload more manageable. Look at other cc's in your area. When looking at courses I look for online or any campus within driving distance if hybrid or weekend options are available.
If your classes are anything like mine that will soon change. I don't think I have had an exam yet that has been LESS than 4-5 chapters. In my micro class we had 3 exams, each one having about 7 chapters and in my Pathophysiology class it's about the same. I think the average for my classes has been 3-4 exams in the semester.
Sorry you are having such a tough time with Micro! I also recommend taking it online. I took mine online thru my local CC. Does your CC offer online classes for Micro, sorry not sure if you are taking it in person or online now?
Hope things work out and definitely dont let ONE instructor ruin your dream. She won't be worth mentioning 10 yrs from now, but you might regret your decision 10 yrs from now!
As others have suggested- how about taking it with another instructor?
Also- I bought this book in addition to my text book- It helped me a lot with micro:

You guys rock!
Unfortunately, she is the Only instructor at my CC and get this, she is going to be
teaching it online!!!!!!!!!! No thanks!
Today, she added another 20 drugs to our ever-growing list and what they do,
what they affect, reactions, etc. PLUS homework, Plus an 8-page article that
I swear was written for Phd's and not "intro" to micro students. I'm beginning to think we won't need a pharmacology class because she is covering it all in MICRO!
I'm going to drop and take it at a different CC; a longer drive, but so worth my
peace of mind:)
Thanks so much, everyone; I can sooo feel the love:)
Something that helped me through my classes...most of the books came with a dvd (or I could get a dvd from another book) that had animated visuals of how everything worked. Unless I see it, I have trouble understanding it. So although I always went to class, I did most of my learning from another book's dvd. I also subscribe to my A&P web site ($35 a year but it has saved me from repeating classes) that has lots of diagrams and other visuals, and I plan to subscribe during all of nursing school and afterward because it is that good! Saved my butt. Best of luck.
Can you take Micro at a different school and transfer it in? Seems like such a waste to have one class or one instructor ruin your dream. There are other options. Seek them out.Good Luck
Matt
please don't give up your dream, give up that sick instructor, because its not that serious in micro!
Update!!
We finally got our test results from a test we took 3 weeks ago and of course,
I failed it.
The sad part for me is having put in all these hours of study, driving 47 miles
One way, the homework, the 8-10 page articles, the drug charts, the group
projects, the research papers and all for nothing.
So, guys, it's with a heavy heart that I'm going to drop and just go somewhere
else to take Micro.
Your support is priceless to me; it has helped me through this difficult time.
There is a man in this class that has a B average and he just dropped this class.
That should tell you guys how unbearable this is.
I'm trying to find an online course(she is the only instructor that teaches it at
my CC and I just found out she'll be teaching it online, too:((((

Rio Salado college in Tempe Arizona is an all online communty college. It's part of the Maricopa County Community College system so it's pretty well respected and accredited. I have not taken classes there, but I hear that they can be tough, as they don't want to be known as an online college that is an easy out to actually going to college. Good luck!
