Nursing Students NCLEX

hello everyone. I have not posted in a long time because i have been so busy. I was wondering if anyone out there has taken the hurst review and if it is really worth the 350 bucks that they charge for it,or if anyone feels that i can prepare for nclex just fine with self-study. any info will help. i graduate this july.:nuke:

Hi my name is Evelyn and I just took my nclex for the second time and failed:cry: I heard about the hurst review and emailed to see when they would be in Richmond Virginia. They won't be able to come until August of this year, but they said if I can gather 15-20 people interested in taking the review that they would come. So if you or anyone else is interested in taking the review I live in Newport News Virginia. I need to pass this ASAP!:bluecry1:

Hi, I heard that you took the hurst review and that you were getting ready to take your boards. Was it worth it? My name is Evelyn and I just took my boards for the second time and failed. I definitely need to take the review, please respond back

I took the Hurst review in Savannah, GA the 2nd week of May. It was a great review of content & excellent study/test taking tips. I really enjoyed. I took my exam today & had 77 questions. I did the pearsonvue trick & I got the pop up & couldnt go to the credit card screen so I'm hoping that means I passed. I'll find out for certain in a few days. All in all I support the Hurst Review & think it is a great tool to prepare for the NCLEX. Good luck with taking it.

hi deemarie,

first of all i had done many reviews and finally heard about hurst review and did their online studies. you get everything you need to prepare and can watch the videos 24/7 for three full months and i also liked their guarantee because if you did not pass (which if you do what marlene says, you will) you could get the class again for 3 months i believe $75.00. the approach marlene hurst uses if different than any other and she keeps your attention because she's funny and you will remember what she has to say. this is a very wise investment and she has a 98% pass rate. i used this review and passed in march. you will go into to your exam prepared and with confidence. good luck to you!:redpinkhe

Everyone has different ways of studying and learning. It's hard to determine. I took the test 5x. The first 4 I did self study. After the 4th fail, I spent 500.00 on the Kaplan review class. To me personally, I think it helped. I passed on the 5th attempt. There is a new class actually starting tomorrow hopefully with the same instructor because I want to go up there and just tell her "thank you "

I just took my boards for the 2nd time and failed. I would like to take the Hurst Review but they won't come to my area until August. They said if I can gather 15-20 people that they will come my way. Any other advice?

You can take their online review. Its just like the live class. Exact info is covered and you can rewatch as many times as you want! I think its better to do online myself! Best of Luck!

Where can I sign up for the kaplan review? Did it really cost $500.00?

You can go to KaplanNursing.com and look for review courses in your area. They are 499.00 I googled nursing review on line and came across another one a community college was giving for 350.00 but it was 6 weeks later than the Kaplan. I wanted to get it done and I wasn't familiar with the one at the college.

I thought I would add my experience with Hurst Review. I did the live Hurst Review and I think it cost $350. I did the review two weeks after graduating and 5 weeks before taking the NCLEX. I debated between doing Hurst Review and Kaplan and eventually decided on Hurst because when I called Kaplan to ask them questions they couldn't give me a pass rate and said it was mostly about strategy rather than review and I wanted a review course. I was pleasantly surprised with Hurst. While it did get boring sitting through 8 hours of lecture it was very much worth it. I passed my NCLEX on the first try with 75 questions. A lot of my questions had to do with Cushings, Hyper/Hypothyroidism, Addison's, and a few other disorders all which were layed out nicely through the lectures. If I had to do it again I wouldn't do the live course. Marlene's lectures on video were more entertaining and I found myself paying more attention when she was lecturing via video than when the teacher's were teaching live. I also noticed several mistakes that were made during the live lecture. I hope this helps with the decision making. Do the video courses over the live courses and study the material they give you. While it doesn't cover everything, it does cover a lot and a lot of what was covered was on my NCLEX. Good luck!!! Also, just FYI, I had a ton of select all that apply and infection control questions so be prepared!!!!

online review is better ? did u only use hurst for review or other materials too? ty
