I'm starting human anatomy next week, and would love to get a sticky started to keep each other sane. I'm a bit nervous about starting this class, as I really need an A, but work full-time and will also be taking abnormal psych. It's going to be a lot of work!
Let's help each other out through this forum! :welcome:
So, when are you starting, where are you taking it, and how are you feeling?
I am not sure if I can post this but I thought I give it a try. I don't know how many of you go into the chat room but I find it not to be very helpful whenI have questions. I guess it's a place where people are going for talk other than nursing.. Well I just thought of something. You know the Instant live messengers out there. What if we all did that. The MSN one. IT's free and we can all keep in touch instantly once our class starts. We can have it on and if someone has a question we can all try to answer right away. What do you guys think??? I could be nuts???
I had my first class and lab tonight. We didn't do much in lecture, just went over the syllabus and stuff. The instructor is really cool, very nice and admits he doesn't think the text book is all that great. In lab, he prefers to set us loose and let us play rather then make up assignments and force us to label stuff on a piece of paper.
In lab, we just went over the planes and the like. And we got to view and touch the cadaver because next week we work with him. I did not touch, because the room was so packed and there wasn't room to squeeze through.
I now have a migraine though due to the smell and if this occurs every lab, I don't know what I'm going to do other then down pain pills before class to thwart off the pain before it kicks in It doesn't smell in the lab itself, but the room the cadaver is kept is small and I don't think has enough ventilation so the smell is overpowering.
hi, i am also starting a&p this september. my class begins on the 28th.
i am glad to hear that i am not the only one worried. i too have 2 children 2 & 6. both girls. my husband works out of town during the week so i am hoping i can juggle class with everyday life. i think it is a wonderful idea to start a study/review/ question/group that can benefit us all. i would love to make some study buddies & help one another succeed. wouldn't it be am amazing if we worked together a bit & aced our class!!! just trying to start out on a positive note!

hey all im new to this site! i am taking a&p 1 this semester too, starting the 28th i have 4 kids ranging from 3 to 8 yrs old, and im taking math, psych, and philosophy also. this is my first semester back at school for like 5 years, so needless to say, im a little nervous myself, but also soooo very excited!! i kinda feel like im setting a challenge for myself with taking so many classes to start. hopefully i am up for it!@! (omg im kind of freaking out now that im thinking about it! what did i do! lol)
Hi,i wanna join the club :-) My anatomy class starts on the 29th. I am really nervous about the fetal pig dissection :-(
How is it at your school, is it a&p 1 and 2, or do you take anatomy first and then physiology (thats how it is at my school....)
greetings, Katie
Katie,
Dissection really is a lot of fun. Just get those rubber gloves on and get in there! You can really learn a lot through dissection.
I think schools vary. I've heard of schools that offer Anatomy and Physiology as separate classes. Both of the schools I went to offer them at the same time.
good luck!

Try using a mask. I had a lab partner who was sensitive to the smell as well, giving her headaches. Wearing a mask seemed to help her quite a bit!
I'm jealous that you get a cadaver to explore. Much better than a cat or pig, I think!!
