    How are you financing NS?

I am a SAHM and qualify for grants to pay for tuition, books, and supplies. I have also taken out federal loans to help with cost of living while I am in school.

Richmond, Va ? Which is better Beta Tech or MCI

Have you thought about one of the community colleges? John Tyler offers a ADN and J. Sargant Reynolds offers both LPN and ADN. I am going to John Tyler and will probably spend no more than $10,000 total for my ADN and pre-reqs for BSN. John Tyler has a pass rate of 94.8% and Reynolds has a pass rate of 84.6 for the ADN and 100% for the LPN. If you haven't already check out the VA BON website. http://www.dhp.virginia.gov/nursing/ Good luck in whatever you decide!

Do You all think this is crazy??

  4. Hello everyone! I decided that I wanted to be a nurse while I was pregnant with my 3rd child, around the middle of 2005. I gave birth in January 06 and started my pre-reqs in Fall 06 with a plan to start nursing school in Fall07. All went well in Fall06 and everything was on schedule until 2 weeks into Spring07. There were some problems with my financial aid and I had to end up dropping out of school until I could correct the problem. Ok no big deal this will just put me back a year. Long story short I ended up changing schools and started this semester on monday. So now I was looking at a NS start of Fall08 but of course another issue has come up. My new school will not accept the develpmental chm class I took at the other school in place of high school chm. So now I have another pre-req to complete before I can even apply. Luckly I have to take this other chm class for the bsn. But now I am looking at a start date of spring09!! I have decided to just stop planning my start date and just take all pre-reqs for ADN and BSN and then apply to ADN program. Who know how long that will take! Sorry for the long rant but I needed to get it out of my system.(My husband is beyond tired of hearing it:) Kimberly RN hopeful-20??
  5. I'm pretty sure that most if not all Universitys will not accept courses from a non-accredited school. That being said I believe that if they became accredited after you graduated the accreditation would be retro-active to all classes that graduated.(I could be wrong on this) Good luck! Kimberly

    Is this a BAD idea?

I can understand your "need for speed" but like MBA2BRN said, if your school weighs GPA heavily you will want to make sure that you have A's in those classes! You also have to take your little one into consideration. You will need lots of study time if you take all of those classes. I suggest that you take one science at a time and maybe some non science co-reqs if you are done with all non science pre-reqs. In either case I wish you the best of luck!

Post here if you are done with finals!

I took English Comp I and got an A:monkeydance: I also took two developmental courses, Algebra and Chem both passed! I will be taking Health Science I (A&P) and Psychology next semester. After that I have 7 pre/coreqs to go till I apply for Nursing School. Good luck to all that are appling for FALL07!

    Need advice on A&PI

Thank you for all of the great advice!
  14. Hello everyone! I am taking A&PI this spring and have a question for those of you that have taken this course. I purchased Barron's Anatomy Flash Cards and would like to use the winter break to my advantage and get a leg up on A&PI. What system(s) would you recommend that I focus on and memorize before class starts? I have just over 3 weeks before class starts. Thanks in advance for all the advice! Have a Merry Christmas! How hard will this be?

Hello all! I am going to take a CNA course at my local community college this January. The course takes 8 weeks, which I guess is the norm, 4 nights and 1 day a week. I will also be enrolled in Psychology and Sociology at the same time. How hard will this be? I am also a SAHM of 3 small children. My two pre-reqs are online so I don't have to be on campus. Thanks for your input! Kimberly Proud wife, mommy, and RN hopful
