Human Anatomy / A&P I Club for Fall 2007

Published

I'm starting human anatomy next week, and would love to get a sticky started to keep each other sane. I'm a bit nervous about starting this class, as I really need an A, but work full-time and will also be taking abnormal psych. It's going to be a lot of work! :uhoh3:

Let's help each other out through this forum! :welcome:

So, when are you starting, where are you taking it, and how are you feeling?

I start on the 27th also . count me in!!!:balloons:

Specializes in med/surg.

I had my 1st lecture, and lab yesterday. This is NOT going to be fun. How in the world do you remeber all these terms? There is so much information to learn and remember, and the final is comprehensive! We have a quiz every week in the lab portion, and it may cover some lecture material. I am so scared, if I get through this class, I can get through anything! This is making my chemistry class look like a piece of cake.

ok, I still haven't been able to add a non-hybrid anatomy class so I'm bowing out this semester. From sitting in on the other lectures at my school I can see the hybrid class isn't a good fit for me and the other classes are too impacted right now. I'm just going to focus on Chem. Good luck to everyone else studying their planes/regions/cell structures and/or tissues at this point.

Take care!

As I am taking a &p 1 and english 201 this fall 2007 in NYC.:o. I have to also get an A. I work full time and it's a little crazy. I am going into my second week and it is not to bad..so far. My instructor is older and knows his stuff. I know we can do it, just stay on top of the game. I am already making note cards. Good luck!;)

I found this awesome thread from last year's A&P II Club here on allnurses.com. Links, links, links! I have to check out the virtual cat dissection (she said as she pet one of her cats!):

hello had my first test and I think I did ok. Now we have tol learn the Glycolysis, Krebs cylcle and Electron Transport System. AHHHHHHHHHHHH!! I have been attacking it little by liitle. Wish me luck.

Cool - glad to see there are others in the same boat with me.

I just started A&P I a week ago. It's the only class I'm taking this semester - and I'll take A&P II next semester - as well as another science class i think. I'm taking it at the local community college with plans to transfer to the university here for next fall.

So the class has been interesting. The prof is interesting. He wears a small red bowtie and has a really dry sense of humor. he laughs to himself and it seems not many students get him. I'm not sure how the semester will go but I feel like I'm learning stuff already.

I've bought a couple extra books at the used bookstore that look helpful - including an A&P applications manual that takes what you learn in lecture and the textbook and then helps you think about them in terms of diseases so there is the actual relevant medical application of the material.

Is anyone else on here in Milwaukee?

Good luck everyone for this semester!:lol2:

I will be starting A and P on the 27th. I will also be taking Nutrition. I work full time and am raising two young boys alone.

Wow it sounds like I am in the same boat minus the 2 kids (and alone too! Good luck!).

I started and I'm not really sure I like my A&P I teacher. He is basically teaching for the exams so I am going to have to study extra hard if I actually want to learn it myself.

Oh well, good luck to us all!

Specializes in Family Practice, Primary Care.

I am taking it this fall as well, but I start this coming Saturday. I am not nervous at all. I've been reading the book on my own and love it.

There is a new website called BodyMaps It's basically Mapquest + The Human Body = BodyMaps. You can search the human body like you're searching for a Starbucks.

It's also a wiki so you can add and edit information to the human body. It's in beta so you'll want to submit your email to be included.

Anybody get their Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards yet? :uhoh21: I told my hubby he's gonna be quizzing me a lot on anatomy!

What are these? Where can I purchase them?

We have our first lab test tomorrow. I will be spending all day in our student success center going over all of our slides and moldels yada, yada.

I am so jealous of some of yous who are already dissecting and working w/ the cadaver. I will get my chance, just not yet.

I just wanted to offer what I did to study for my first exam. I bought a couple packages of colored notecards, and a package of a dozen highlighters in the same colors. Each chapter gets its own color. Ex ch 1 was pink cards with pink highlighter in the book, ch 2 was yellow, ch 3 will be green. So, I wrote down definitions and anything else that could be condensed to a notecard, and I could study off the notecards. Then I looked at the drawings in the book after I would study the cards. Things like systems I would study the card and also look at the picture in the book so I had a visual.

This worked for me! I got a 100 on my first exam. I missed a couple, but I got the extra credit right, so it came out to 100!
