HS student with odor, call nurse?

A can of spray deodorant? A bar of soap and a washcloth and towel? The teacher could just as easily keep these in their own classroom storage capacity.

i usually have a few leftover deodorants from the p&g program, but it's not something i go out of the way to buy cases of.

I do however, keep a bottle of mouthwash on hand. I doesn't get used terribly often, usually diluted for BRIs (braces related injuries)

I keep a can of spray deodorant and mouthwash. Not surprisingly, teachers use it more than the students. How do they forget to put on deodorant in the morning???

I have a box of mini deodorants I got as a donation from a parent. (While my school has a lot of lower income students, we also have some middle class parents that can be generous with donation to our students in need fund.) They are tiny - really good for maybe 5 uses or so - but I appreciate having them. I also carry a few travel toothbrushes, toothpaste, and a box of combs.

I had this issue last year. Apparently all the 9th grade teachers have super-sonic noses. But, they took up donations and brought them to me. So, I made up goodie bags with personal hygiene items and hand them out ad-lib. I still have left-overs for this year.

I do order small solid deodorants to keep in the office. I used to keep spray deodorant, but they get way to frivolous with their sprays. cough..cough...

I have all kinds of stuff. Deodorant, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and brushes, body spray, flossers, dental wax, combs/brushes, hair ties, hairspray. The school wants me to keep this stuff on hand, so its covered by my budget (its just dollar store stuff).

I sense a little "not my job" stuff going on. I figure the kid would rather de-stink in my office than in a classroom.

Yes, of course I do. We don't break the budget on it, but we have a spray deodorant and mouthwash.

Get this, the P.E. (gym class) no longer require or make students shower after running, sweating, etc. Wow. I guess I could pick up something but I remember the head nurse making the nurses list all items in their clinics with the responding biohazard codes in case someone needed poison control, etc. So, I am reluctant to give anybody anything but good old soap and water if I have no standing orders for it. We have low income but tons of middle class that complain alot about allergic reactions. Yikes!

P.S. We do have pads, dental wax. I keep room spray supplied by our budget but that's it. We have more OTC stash for teachers which they use at their own discretion.

Off topic...just curious....

Do schools even require this anymore or have they ever required it?? I went to HS in the 80's we didn't shower - I think we had something like 5-7 minutes to change into our regular clothing and get to the next class before the tardy bell rang.

My own kids who graduated in 2014 & 2016 didn't have this requirement either. My youngest was even in drill team had practice daily at 6:45am for 2 hours & had DT class for 1.5 hrs during the day- she never showered after practice/class until she would get home - gross I know, LOL but they just don't.

I myself would have been horrified if made to shower - the gym shower did not have any privacy - just a big shower with about a dozen shower heads around it - what kid is going to shower out in the open in front of everyone???
