I thought I would start a thread for those who have applied, do that we can keep each other posted on what is going on with the process. Also here to promote tons of positivity for everyone.
ok so im hoping today is my lucky day!!!! FINGERS CROSSED... LOL did u guys notice that the emails from that lady that were posted it seems as though she has removed her number from the bottom....unless that person didnt paste that part...she is probably got some type of otitis media from how much she has been on the phone!!!
I do not think that having children, being in an area of the country that has few nurses or any such nuances factor into getting this scholarship. If they picked people who had kids over those that didn't they would be violating Equal Opportunity for discriminating against people who are childless. Same thing with where you live. Dependents figure into EFC on a FAFSA but that is a seperate process and HRSA just uses the number they generate to figure your need. That is probably the only factor aside from the type of program ADN/BSN and enrollment status that figures into it.

If you have children you will have a lower efc due to dependents being added to your tax liability. So yes, it is a factor, although this is how they present it, of course they don't ask you if you have kids. But dependence status does play into the math..which is simple common sense.
Has anyone who received the email also received a letter? Or have you all just received the email and no letter? Also, when does the tuition payment start and when does the direct deposit start?
Was told today to expect payment in october, and they said the payment will be large because they are giving us the stipend from the first full month of school (at least 15 days attended) through oct's payment, in addition they are giving us the Other Reasonable Costs Payment.
After reading the bulletin, it would seem that the alternates were the ones who are getting e-mail. But the bulletin has been wrong before.
Got the official letter today (I was e-mailed yesterday). For those who are curious.
It is a white window envelope with blue writing from the Department of Health and Human Services. It was postmarked 9/22/08 from zip code 20857. It also has a small label HRSA/BCRS 1400-39 on the bottom left hand corner. I'm curious to know what that is about.
Inside is a copy of my contract and a congratulatory letter marked 9/18. It has a facsimile signature of Lisa Walsh.
I am going to a private diploma program in Texas. I will graduate May 2010.
I have two small children, however the program does not care about whether or not I have children as that is part of the calculation of the EFC.
Considering what a blessing this scholarship is I feel like Ed McMahon should come to my house with flowers and balloons and hand the letter to me.
I didn't think I would get the award. The school I attend is very expensive. I haven't check my mail box for the official letter yet due to the fact that my last class ends at 5:45pm. I just called the person that we're suppose to send our acceptance email to. I wanted to confirm that she received it. I am on the list and she did receive the confirmation email.
Here is my info if anyone wanted to know.

It should be around $1795.....remember though...this is to last the whole year to buy books....and you will have to wait until the end of October next year as well....so if you spend it all before your Spring 09 semester and your Fall 09 semester you will need to come up with those funds yourself....congrats to all
