Hrsa 08-09 Nursing Scholarship

Published

I thought I would start a thread for those who have applied, do that we can keep each other posted on what is going on with the process. Also here to promote tons of positivity for everyone.

I actually emailed the lady M. Carrera. I asked her about my status, and she told me that I wasn't in her list. So i'm like..BUMMER!! On the other hand, still keeping my hopes up, maybe, there could be other "case analyst" whose in charge of other students. Well you know...it's not October yet..so I'm still HOPING!! hehe!

I got the email too:yeah:. I thanked God the moment I read it 3 times. Good luck to all. :jester:

Did you get the previous emails in regard to in state/out of state tuition or the curriculum link?

Hello All!

I came across this thread last night and was reading through all the posts...I too applied for the scholarship. I was wondering out of those that have received the congrats email, how many of you have children? I was wondering if they take that into consideration. I am in the ADN program with only 2 semesters left at Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans, La. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Congrats to those that have gotten it! :nurse:

I don't remember a place in the application where we were asked if we had children and what not but it has been SOOOO long that I could have forgotten about that.

I think what is going on with the emails is that the m. carrera lady is very thorough and she is sending emails when she is done processing and before she sends the official letter...like she is suppose to. The other ppl that are doing the paperwork may just not be doing the emails because they dont feel like it or whatever. Thats how everything works. Some ppl are thorough and some aren't. So if you are not on that lady's list, then I would say dont give up yet because out of AAALLL the apps I dont think there would be ONE person that is going to deal with itall, I think there will be several people.... Still waiting on edge...pulling my hair out!!!

LOL! I'm pretty much driving myself crazy too....the only info that I have gotten was "under review" then it was switched to "completed"....who knows....guess if I have to scrape by for one more semester it won't kill me. I'm sure that my grades would be much better if I didn't have to work as much...my motto C=RN! :yeah:

First, congrats to those who already know they got the scholarship. For those of us still waiting Best Wishes. When I was told that I was not on the list I was disappointed but the bright side is that I am doing well in my RN program in in a few years I'll have a career that I love. So, I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and if you are positive and make positive choices in your life, good things will come. Take Care and Good Luck to all in their studies.:nurse:

Specializes in My son...for now..

I think the question about children is valid. The number of dependents is certainly in the equation of your EFC, so yes I think it is a consideration. I have two small children, and I got the scholarship. I am also in a private ADN program at a catholic school in S. California.

I agree, there is no reason to think the selection process is over. To all those who were told they were not on the list, I do think there are other lists out there. From what I understand, there are groupings of selectees, and I think there are several people adjudicating these applications.

Well that gives me a little hope, I'm not sure if they also consider the need for nurses in the area you live....I do believe every parish(county) here in Louisiana is short....thanks to hurricane Katrina, and her sister Rita! Congrats on getting it...I know that it will help you so much, as I have two kids too! What does not kill us makes us stronger! :banghead:
