2013-2014 HRSA Nursing Scholarship Program

I know it is entirely too early but I wanted to get a thread going for all of you who are planning to apply for the NSP this upcoming year. I know it is becoming more and more popular and there are always questions and people wanting to share experiences and such so I hope this thread will become helpful! I have signed up to get the alert for when the application is available for the 2013-2014 FY and hope to meet others who will be applying as well.

The waiting game is soooo hard! I check this post daily to see if anyone has had a credit check done, received a semi-finalist notification, etc. I am so anxious to find out if I have won the scholarship and am incredibly excited to hear others success stories! Good luck everyone and I hope we all receive good news soon! :up:

That's an interesting thought about the deadline being extended! However, I think it was because there were technical difficulties the previous week (with the online portal).

I looked at last year's post and seemed like people got their first credit checks on July 16th and after, so I'm thinking maybe we should be seeing credit checks next week or even a week after since our deadline got delayed.

I really hope and pray that I get this scholarship. It would be such a blessing to my family and would help me to complete my nursing degree and take the financial burdens off of my parents. I am so anxious and would really like for HRSA to start notifying us on the process by mid-july.

For what it's worth, even though our deadline got delayed, our applications were still due a day before last year's....I looked at the application packet for 2012, and the due date is May 8th.

Anyway, just some hope that perhaps we'll start seeing credit checks soon.

Where is everyone checking for credit checks? Are you keeping an eye on your credit reports or waiting to get an email about credit checks? Thanks!

I was wondering about this too! And as far as I understand it should be about this week that some of us may start seeing something, how exciting :)

Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe seeing a credit check done early is a good sign meaning your at the higher end of the list to receive the scholarship. However, other individuals believe there is no correlation between credit checks and receiving the scholarship since credit checks are part of the application process. Individuals in the past saw the first round of credit checks done July 16 and 17. I am still soo anxious to start receiving some news!! :)

I've been checking creditkarma.com, which is free and supposedly doesn't harm your credit by checking a million times a day, which I certainly have been.

I don't know much about credit scores and whether creditkarma would actually pick up on your credit being pulled and report it immediately, but its worth taking a look. You can also of course request a formal credit report from one of the three big names, but I think you only get to do that once a year, and checks beyond that do influence negatively influence your credit.

Someone else with more experience in credit/financial stuff--feel free to chime in with better information!

I check credit karma too! I've told myself I am not going to check anymore til the end of the week.

Hello! I'm from the dental boards and have always looked at these blogs for information about the HRSA scholarship... Although I did not get my credit checked today... I read on the dental and med boards that med students were getting theirs checked on the 3rd of July and Dental students got theirs checked today.

You all are soon to be checked, I'm sure they are just doing some weird order.
