I know it is entirely too early but I wanted to get a thread going for all of you who are planning to apply for the NSP this upcoming year. I know it is becoming more and more popular and there are always questions and people wanting to share experiences and such so I hope this thread will become helpful! I have signed up to get the alert for when the application is available for the 2013-2014 FY and hope to meet others who will be applying as well.

Were we supposed to specify hospital region/state in our essays? I'm single, no kids. I can go anywhere so I didn't specify state or region, just type of facility and said I was open to others.

Nevermind....specification wasn't required but encouraged....I guess if you had a built a life in a certain area and were hoping to stay. I'm a nomad.

Anybody started hearing anything back yet? Also is there anyway the we can check the status of our application? I'm so nervous and I really could use this scholarship!!! Thanks

I don't think we will hear back until July. Judging from last year's thread, people had credit checks/pulls that might or might not indicate being a finalist. You can always check on their website to see if your status has changed. For mine it just still says 'under review'.

According to the FAQ's recipients will be notified in August if they are selected. Those who get denied should be notified by the end of September. I am guessing the reason those who are denied get notified later is in case people do not accept the scholarship if they are selected.

Since I got accepted to my nursing school program past the deadline for HRSA application. is it too late to apply for it? Do you guys know any other scholarship opportunities for nursing students? Thank you! :)

Yes, unfortunately the deadline has past. It was May 2nd. Next year you can apply though!

August feels like its just around the corner! A few more months until we start to hear back :) I'm nervous but hopeful!

I'm so nervous! I truly hope I get it. I'm trying to look at the positive side for everything... if I don't get it, it will be easier for me to continue straight into my school's MSN program. But if I do get it, I won't need loans at all! Ugh... I will continue to pray that whatever is best for me is what will happen for me.

Has anyone received any correspondence from the HRSA regarding the application? I thought it would be nice to keep the thread alive and check in every now and again. How is everyone's summer going?
