  1. Congrats to you! I am always searching for a trend and it seems high GPA and EFC of 0 are getting their replies. I have a GPA of a 3.3 :/ hopefully there is room for us on the lower spectrum!
  2. Wow they are notifying already! Well I suppose it shortens the waiting period so that is a good thing. I haven't had a credit check or heard anything and I am in California. Fingers crossed and Congrats to those who received the scholarship thus far!
  3. You have nothing to worry about! There is no "right" path to take when it comes to life decisions such as these. Age is simply a number and you are still young and have a whole lifetime of being a nurse ahead of you. I took a different route and will just be starting my entry level MSN in the fall after a 7 year journey, a child, and never giving up on my goal of becoming a nurse. Good luck to you!
  4. While we are waiting for any news do you all mind sharing your program you are starting or are currently enrolled in and what part of the country you are from?! I am starting an entry level MSN program in the Fall (excited and nervous) and I am in California :) I believe I fall in the 3rd funding preference because I am not in an NP program but I do have an EFC 0.
  5. No credit check here either. Still playing the waiting game and I hope we hear sooner rather then later.
  6. Has anyone received any correspondence from the HRSA regarding the application? I thought it would be nice to keep the thread alive and check in every now and again. How is everyone's summer going?
  7. August feels like its just around the corner! A few more months until we start to hear back :) I'm nervous but hopeful!
  8. Hi everyone if you can PM me I will send you the FB link. It should be under Samuel Merritt Case Management 2013 or similar search
  9. I think they must send them out in waves.bwhich is weird but I guess they don't do one email for all Case Management students. I received mine only yesterday, so maybe that's why I have until the 13th?
  10. Hi Shyloh I received an email from K----a R. It was a congratulations email and had the link to fill out the letter of intent and deposit by March 13.
  11. Hey All I live in Oakland currently and have for the past 12 years. There are areas that have higher crime rates however there are also great areas in Oakland. I live by Lake Merritt in Oakland and I think it is a great location, safe, and close to SMU. Oakland gets a bad rap and it is understandable as I used to live in a not-so-great part of Oakland but there are nice places to live in Oakland. If you are considering Oakland then the Lakeshore, Grand Lake, Lake Merritt, Uptown, Rockridge, Piedmont, Montclair, and a few other neighborhoods are really great and have great restaurants and shopping as well (oh and awesome Cafe's galore for studying :) )
  12. Hey I definitely believe they do award to individuals pursuing nursing as a second degree or career change. You are eligible as long as your are accepted/enrolled in an accredited nursing program (including accelerated BSN). I just got into an entry level masters program for nursing and completed my undergrad in another non nursing degree. If you go to the HRSA website they have all the information regarding the scholarship for the 2012 cycle. The 2013 application should be available sometime in March. Good luck to you and congrats on getting into your program!
  13. I live in Oakland and feel so lucky that I am going to be able to go to a school that's not only great but also so close to home :)
  14. Search "Samuel Merritt ELMSN Case Management 2013" and I will add you!
