2013-2014 HRSA Nursing Scholarship Program

I know it is entirely too early but I wanted to get a thread going for all of you who are planning to apply for the NSP this upcoming year. I know it is becoming more and more popular and there are always questions and people wanting to share experiences and such so I hope this thread will become helpful! I have signed up to get the alert for when the application is available for the 2013-2014 FY and hope to meet others who will be applying as well.

I believe one person did. They were unable to relocate and couldn't find any qualifying healthcare facilities near them.

ok, did everyone receive a finalist letter? or only a few? Because I didn't and they haven't pulled my credit yet, and I'm still UNDER REVIEW. When I called HRSA they said it was a good thing that I was under review still and that all notifications will be sent out at the latest by August 31. I explained that school starts August 26 and she said that the hope is that notification will be sent to all awardees by then. That they are processing applications asap, but they must follow certain guidelines and criteria. Is every state different? Has anyone in Indiana heard ANYTHING?

Congratulations to everyone who has received the scholarship! It sounds like it will be an amazing experience! I have been checking my email/status on the hrsa website daily. I called HRSA and spoke with a rep who said having a status of "under review" is a good sign.

Stats: I am an ABSN/MSN nurse practitioner student in PA with a previous undergrad in Biology, GPA 3.79, EFC is 0.

It seems like either they are kind of slow distributing the awards or there may be problems. Bc judging from this forum only a handful of ppl actually got the award and a lot of people are still waiting to hear back. Hopefully they let us know within the next 2 weeks!

I'm patiently awaiting on my award letter. I receive it in the name of JESUS! Many are called but only a few are chosen and I know, I will be A CHOSEN ONE! Congrats to all that have been blessed already!!! Good Luck to everyone else. What's ment to be will be! With or without the scholarship, the future awaits all of us future NURSES!

That's a good outlook on it. I prayed on it and received it and you will as well. Regardless, we will all be great nurses making a difference in the lives of others.

I am getting so anxious and I know that I should not worry. Reading some of this thread has given me highs and lows, but I give it to GOD! He will make a way!! I am in Illinois, EFC of 0, GPA 3.47, have an associates degree of science and entering my Junior year for my BSN. I have not had a credit check yet as far as I can tell but my application status is under review. Praying for great things! As I really am struggling to get all of the supplies before my first day of school which is August 21!

In past years, people have said they have revived an award without the credit being checked. Also not all credit reporting sites will show all credit inquires. Try quizzle.com. It's free and doesn't require a credit card. If this helps, my congratulation email didnt state the amount of scholarships awarded like in past years. To me this could mean they are not finished the selection process.

I have an efc of 4913 and a gpa of 3.18 and I pray that it is in God's will to bless me with this scholarship which I so desperately need. I go to a private school and tuition is steep but I have gotten this far on faith and prayers and I encourage you all to do the same. Don't give up and stay positive and encouraged. All you need is faith of a mustard seed and God will take it from there.

Wish I would have seen that before I turned in my application. Mine still says Under Review but I think everyone that didn't get the finalist letter has that. I don't want to be negative but I have to say I'm starting to feel very disappointed.
