Nurse Corp Scholarship Finalist
Hi! Does anyone know the deal with the ORC payment and stipends? I talked to a rep on Monday and she said that we would receive payment by November 1st. That's a long time lol. However, HRSA took care of my tuition and fees last friday, about a week after my school submitted an invoice.

Great news! Just received an email from HRSA and they have FINALLY updated our status. We are no longer "In Final Review" and we can now breathe easy. If you log into the portal, there are documents that you can reference and guidance on working with your school regarding invoices. The wait is over! Congrats to all! :)

I just hope they start communicating with our schools soon. I would hate to have to deal with late fees and I'm waiting to purchase my books. A formal award letter would be nice. Hoping for some good news and movement :).

Plagiarism or not?
I served as a student representative on my university's academic integrity board. Let me just say that instructors take academic integrity very seriously. Although I empathize with your situation, I would call plagiarism as well since you submitted the paper. There really isn't a way to prove that you were on your medication while typing the paper, and I think that is a major concern. Also, if you wish to appeal, you may want to take a look at your school's academic conduct policy/handbook in regards to the procedure for filing academic dishonesty. Sometimes instructors do not follow the procedure as written, for example, officially filling academic dishonesty before contacting the student in my university could get a case thrown out due to procedural error.Hope this helps!

Same thing I was told in regards to the Secretary of Healthsigning the contract. I called my financial aid office and they gave me someoptions: 1. sign up for monthly payment plan until the money is disbursed 2.send HRSA an invoice (although I'm not sure who the point of contact would be)3. some employer repayment program where they defer your payments up to asemester 4. take out a loan and then use the money from HRSA to repay it. I'vedecided to wait it out. My bill just dropped yesterday and it isn't due untilSept 10th. I pray all this will be sorted out by then. :)

My status has not changed in the portal. I will definitely post if anything changes. Classes start September 23 for me, I don't think I'm going to take out a loan because my bill doesn't need to be paid until September 10.

Did you figure out what happened? I'm still able to view my info which states "In Final Review".

I believe one person did. They were unable to relocate and couldn't find any qualifying healthcare facilities near them.

This whole situation is confusing. I was advised not to take out a loan and then advised to take one if needed. My school starts Sept. 23. Thank God I have a little bit more time to figure this out. I read the thread from last year's award recipients and they seemed to be just as confused. I also visited the NURSE CORPS Facebook page which stated that all awards would be disbursed to the schools by October. What does that even mean?!?? lol... Some one last year said something about applying for a loan, but not accepting it because once the loan has been used to pay your tuition and fees, NURSE CORPS will only pay the remaining balance. I am in a one year accelerated program and my tuition needs to be paid for the whole year. I'm not sure if we can get some official documentation to give to our schools. I would suggest contacting your financial aid and scholarships office. Perhaps, they are familiar with the scholarship and can give guidance on what steps to take. If I find any helpful information, I will def. post. :)

Wow! Even though we are technically in the "final review" stage? I'm definitely going to call them and see if I can do the same. Thanks!

Agreed. I pray about it every night. I'm starting to get paranoid lol. I'm still unclear about when the awards will actually begiven to our schools. People in my program are discussing their payment options(loans, etc.) on our FB group page and I'm kind of just waiting, hoping that we get information soon, as I am about to solidify my housing and start purchasing supplies, books, uniforms, etc. I hope the process occurs more quickly and smoothly than last year. I'm definitely NOT complaining, just a little concerned. Can't wait to get the final OK :).
