2013-2014 HRSA Nursing Scholarship Program

I know it is entirely too early but I wanted to get a thread going for all of you who are planning to apply for the NSP this upcoming year. I know it is becoming more and more popular and there are always questions and people wanting to share experiences and such so I hope this thread will become helpful! I have signed up to get the alert for when the application is available for the 2013-2014 FY and hope to meet others who will be applying as well.

I'm not trying to discourage ANYONE from taking the scholarship. It is an incredible opportunity. I just want to make sure everyone does their research and is able to find a place to work after all is said and done. The money is great now, but defaulting would be a bigger hardship than paying out of pocket while in school.

Thanks for the info. I did research and found that all the hospitals in my area count.

My EFC is 0 and no news yet.

Find Shortage Areas: HPSA by State & County

You can look by state and county or put in an address. The score has to be above 14 in order to qualify. I have a very large facility that is close to me that have a score of 12 but does not qualify. Also, the scores change yearly. So a site that qualifies now may not qualify when you graduate.

What does the FTE and #short stand for? if it has a #short of 0 does it mean they are not taking people even though they have a level above 14?

OMG... this waiting game is kiiling me. Congrat to all the people that received the award and for those of you thatare still waiting, don't loose hope. I have a EFC of 816 and attending Pace University for the accelerated program and GPA 3.2

Its killing me too. I wasn't too focused on the scholarship after submitting it until last week when my credit was checked, now I wish I'd never checked it. But if its meant to be it will be. I'm happy for everyone that has received it so far and hope for the best for those of us that are still waiting to hear something.

Hope my GPA wont stop me from getting this scholarship. I have a GPA of 3.8 on all my science courses but over all 3.2 Anyone have a GPA of 3.0-3.5
